Job summary

The Hershey Company Memphis plant has immediate openings for Industrial Maintenance Technician II to maintain and optimize high-speed manufacturing equipment. The role requires skilled electrical and mechanical maintenance in a non-union, fast-paced environment.

Candidates should be able to work 2nd or 3rd shifts, weekends and overtime, pass mechanical and hands-on assessments, and participate in safety standards and continuous improvement initiatives at the Memphis facility.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Must work 2nd shift (2 pm–10 pm) or 3rd shift (10 pm–6 am).
• Must be available for weekends, holidays, and overtime.
• Must be authorized to work in the United States.
• Possess a journeyman's card from a state-approved apprenticeship program or at least 5-7 years of hands-on electrical and mechanical work in manufacturing maintenance, including experience as a qualified machine repair person, toolmaker, or machine tool builder.
• Score passing on a written Mechanical NOCTI exam.
• Basic computer skills.
• Knowledge of industrial electrical systems, process control & instrumentation, motors and controls (AC and DC), analog and digital devices, schematics, electrical print reading, power supplies, and electrical maintenance.
• Hydraulic and pneumatic systems operational theory, troubleshooting, and repair, including reading blueprints and schematics.
• Lubrication, mechanical drive systems, pumps, HVAC systems, steam boilers with temperature and pressure control, condensate control, and system operation.

Responsibilities

• Understand the principles of basic electricity and electronics.
• Plan layout of electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures consistent with specifications and local codes.
• Install control and distribution apparatus, such as switches, outlets, relays, and circuit‑breaker panels.
• Diagnose and repair or replace malfunctioning apparatus and components such as transformers, circuit breakers, fuses, motors, generators, and fixtures.
• Perform preventive maintenance on engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines; troubleshoot malfunctions.

The Hershey Company Memphis plant is a Non‑Union facility producing products such as Ice Breakers, Breath Savers, and Good & Plenty in a high‑speed complex environment.

Pay

• Starting Payrate: $34.95 per hour
• Shift differential: $1.00 per hour
• Overtime potential
• Manufacturing Incentive Plan (MIP) eligible

Shifts

• Flexible to work any shift, weekends, overtime, and holidays
• Schedule assignments upon hire are determined by plant needs
• Regular schedule is 8‑hour shifts; mandatory overtime may be weekly (up to 12 hours/day, Monday‑Sunday), daily (additional 4 hours on an 8‑hour shift), and weekends (8 to 12‑hour shifts)

Maintenance technicians must be skilled in electrical, mechanical, and utility maintenance. Their primary role is to maintain and optimize manufacturing equipment and systems.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Electrical

• Understand the principles of basic electricity and electronics
• Understand the National Electrical Code and NFPA 70‑E
• Understand occupation‑specific safety standards and procedures
• Plan layout of electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures consistent with specifications and local codes
• Employ proper techniques to measure, cut, bend, thread, assemble, and install electrical conduits
• Install control and distribution apparatus, such as switches, outlets, relays, and circuit‑breaker panels
• Connect wiring to circuit breakers, transformers, lighting fixtures, thermostats, intercoms, signaling systems, and power equipment
• Check circuit connections to ensure electrical compatibility and safety of components
• Diagnose and repair or replace malfunctioning apparatus and components such as transformers, circuit breakers, fuses, motors, generators, and fixtures

Mechanical

• Perform preventive maintenance on engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines; follow diagrams, sketches, manuals, and specifications; troubleshoot malfunctions
• Determine dimensional changes of parts by inspecting used parts with calipers and micrometers
• Control downtime by informing production workers of routine preventive maintenance techniques; monitor compliance
• Maintain equipment, parts, and supplies inventories; place and expedite orders; verify receipt
• Answer mechanical maintenance questions and requests
