Overview

The Hershey Company Memphis plant is a Non-Union plant producing products such as Ice Breakers, Breath Savers, and Good & Plenty in a high-speed complex environment.

Pay
  • Starting pay rate: $34.95 per hour.
  • Shift differential: $1.00 per hour.
  • Overtime potential.
  • Manufacturing Incentive Plan (MIP) eligible.
Shifts
  • Flexible to work any shift, weekends, overtime, and holidays.
  • Schedule assignments upon hire are determined by plant needs.
  • Regular schedule is 8-hour shifts; mandatory overtime may be weekly, daily, or on weekends up to 12 hours per day.
Candidate Process
  • Complete mechanical written and hands‑on skills assessment.
  • Advance to onsite interview upon passing both assessments.
  • Post‑offer drug screen, physical assessment, and background check required.
Summary

The Memphis Plant of The Hershey Company has immediate openings for Industrial Maintenance Technician II to work in a state‑of‑the‑art manufacturing facility. Maintenance technicians are skilled in electrical and mechanical and utility maintenance, maintaining and optimizing manufacturing equipment and systems.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Electrical
  • Understand basic electricity and electronics principles.
  • Know the National Electrical Code and NFPA 70-E.
  • Understand occupation‑specific safety standards and procedures.
  • Plan layout of electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures per specifications and local codes.
  • Measure, cut, bend, thread, assemble, and install electrical conduits.
  • Install control and distribution apparatus such as switches, outlets, relays, and circuit‑breaker panels.
  • Connect wiring to circuit breakers, transformers, lighting fixtures, thermostats, intercoms, signaling systems, and power equipment.
  • Check circuit connections for electrical compatibility and safety.
  • Diagnose and repair or replace malfunctioning apparatus and components (transformers, circuit breakers, fuses, motors, generators, fixtures).
Mechanical
  • Ensure operation of machinery and mechanical equipment through preventive maintenance on engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines.
  • Determine changes in dimensional requirements using rules, calipers, micrometers, and other measuring instruments.
  • Control downtime by informing production workers of routine preventive maintenance techniques and monitoring compliance.
  • Maintain equipment, parts, and supplies inventories and place orders as needed.
  • Provide mechanical maintenance information by answering questions and requests.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Available to work 2nd (2pm-10pm) or 3rd (10pm-6am) shift.
  • Must be available to work weekends, holidays, and overtime.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States.
  • Possess either a journeyman's card from a state‑approved apprenticeship program or 5-7 years of hands‑on electrical and mechanical work in manufacturing systems maintenance. Experience as a qualified machine repair person, toolmaker, or machine‑tool builder, including hydraulics, pneumatics, and mechanical systems, is required.
  • Be able to achieve a passing score on a written Mechanical NOCTI exam.
  • Have basic understanding of PCs and computer skills.
  • Industrial electrical systems, process control & instrumentation, motors and controls (AC and DC), analog and digital devices, schematics and electrical print reading, power supplies, electrical maintenance, hydraulic and pneumatic systems theory and repair, lubrication, mechanical drive systems, pump systems, HVAC controls, and steam system operation.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Food manufacturing experience.
  • Experience with Safe Quality Food (SQF) practices.
  • Experience with Total Productive Maintenance (TPM).
  • Experience with Autonomous Maintenance (AM).
  • Experience with Single‑Minute Exchange of Die (SMED).
  • Experience with Continuous Improvement methodology.
