Job summary

Protolabs in Minnesota is seeking a Maintenance Technician II to ensure reliability, performance, and efficiency of production equipment and facility systems. The role involves hands-on maintenance, troubleshooting, and supporting installations to maximize uptime.

The position emphasizes independent work on routine tasks while collaborating on more complex repairs, with a schedule from 5 pm to 3 am, Monday through Thursday.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; vocational/technical school or associate degree in industrial maintenance, electrical technology, or related field preferred.
• 3+ years of hands-on industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Working knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
• Basic electrical knowledge up to 480V, experience with motors, starters, relays, and VFDs.
• Ability to read mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, and basic PLC ladder logic.
• Proficient with common hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment (multimeter, clamp meter).
• Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to prioritise work under production pressure.

Responsibilities

• Perform scheduled maintenance on machine tools including cleaning, lubrication, filter changing, belt replacement, adjustments, and basic repairs.
• Become more proficient with complex repairs as required.
• Complete occasional CAD projects required within the Facilities and maintenance departments.
• Assist with implementation and maintenance of CMMS program.
• Adhere to all quality and safety standards within the department.
• Maintain clean and organized work area with emphasis on safety, quality, efficiency, and utilisation.
