Job summary

Schwan's Company is seeking a skilled maintenance technician for a full-time role in a food manufacturing environment. You will perform preventive maintenance on conveyor systems and production machinery to ensure reliable operation and minimize downtime.

Ideal candidates have a high school diploma or GED, a two-year maintenance trade degree, and 3+ years of related experience. Must be able to lift 50 lbs and work varying hours including overtime and weekends. SAP experience is a plus.

• Basic to advanced mechanical knowledge with electrical and building skills.

Responsibilities

• Conduct preventive maintenance and troubleshoot conveyor systems and food production machinery.
• Perform mechanical repairs including shaft keying, sprocket broaching, gear head replacement, and welding.
• Assist with equipment setup, teardown, welding, fabrication, and installation of plant machinery.
• Diagnose mechanical issues using observation, listening, and precision measuring tools; identify root causes.
• Use SAP to document maintenance activities, track work orders, and communicate with production teams.

What You Will Do

• Conduct advanced preventive maintenance and troubleshooting on conveyor systems and food production machinery to ensure reliable operation and minimize downtime.
• Perform complex mechanical repairs including shaft keying, sprocket broaching, gear head replacement, stainless steel welding, hydraulic hose fabrication, and belt maintenance using specialized tools and equipment.
• Assist with equipment setup, teardown, welding, fabrication, and installation of new or modified plant machinery to support production needs.
• Diagnose mechanical issues through observation, auditory assessment, and use of precision measuring instruments, and effectively identifying and resolving root causes.
• Utilize SAP software to document maintenance activities, track work orders, and communicate effectively with production and operations teams to optimize workflow.
