Job summary

AvalonBay Communities, Inc. seeks a Maintenance Technician II to support our West Palm Beach, FL communities, ensuring high‑standard apartment homes are well maintained and ready for residents.

You will diagnose and repair HVAC, plumbing, electrical, appliances, painting, and safety systems, perform preventive maintenance, handle on‑call rotation, and deliver courteous service while following safety policies.

Qualifications

• 2–3 years of maintenance experience including HVAC, plumbing, electrical and general maintenance.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Ability to work a rotating on‑call schedule.
• Strong customer‑service communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair HVAC, plumbing, electrical, major appliances, carpentry, and safety systems.
• Complete service requests in a timely, standards‑compliant manner.
• Ensure vacant homes are rent‑ready and perform turnkey work as needed.
• Conduct preventive maintenance on apartment homes.

Overview

AvalonBay Communities, Inc. seeks a Maintenance Technician II to support community maintenance for high‑standard apartment homes in West Palm Beach, FL.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair HVAC, electrical, plumbing, major appliances, carpentry, emergency systems, flooring, hardware accessories, masonry, painting/wallpaper, water features (pools, spas, etc.), and waste management systems.
• Complete assigned service requests and repairs in accordance with company operating and equipment/supply standards, maintaining a timely response.
• Ensure vacant apartment homes are rent‑ready in a timely manner and perform turnkey work as required.
• Conduct apartment preventive maintenance.
• Assist in painting both interior and exterior surfaces.
• Maintain an incident‑free safety culture by following AvalonBay safety policies and procedures, reporting unsafe behavior or conditions.
• Perform hot works including brazing, soldering, and welding within AvalonBay’s standards.

Qualifications

• 2‑3 years of maintenance work experience, covering HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and general maintenance.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Ability to work an on‑call schedule in rotation with the team each month.
• Strong customer‑service communication skills.
• Comprehension of policies and procedures, including key control, apartment home turnover, and maintenance emergency policies.
• Knowledge of cleaning and chemical supplies, reading Hazard Communication Safety Data Sheets, and handling chemicals safely.
• Proficiency with personal protective equipment and its proper use.
• Basic understanding of emergency systems, shutoffs, locations, and sequence of operations.
• Knowledge of paint types and painting tools.
