Silver Bay YMCA Conference and Family Retreat Center in Silver Bay, NY, seeks a Maintenance Technician 2 to maintain campus appearance, buildings, grounds and infrastructure under the Director of Facilities. The role includes performing daily maintenance tasks, participating in long-term projects, operating equipment safely, and ensuring a clean, safe work environment.

Weekend rotations may be required, with early arrivals or late departures during weather events.

Formación

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 1-3 years of experience preferred.
• Strong knowledge of grounds keeping, painting, carpentry, plumbing, electrical, HVAC and/or mechanical repairs.
• Ability to interpret data, orally and in writing.
• An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with diverse groups.
• Must have a valid driver’s license.

Responsabilidades

• Completes daily maintenance duties such as trash removal and building repairs.
• Responds to maintenance calls and snow removal as needed.
• Participates in long-term projects to repair/ remodel rooms and facilities.
• Operates equipment safely (trucks, grounds equipment, carpentry tools, etc.).
• Performs routine maintenance to ensure equipment is in good working condition.
• Maintains a clean and safe working environment, including work zones.
• Works independently or as part of a team to complete assignments on time.
• Attends and participates in meetings and training sessions.
• May be required to work weekends, evenings, nights or holidays during storms or events.

Description

Under the direction of the Director of Facilities, the position of Maintenance Technician 2 is to maintain the general appearance of the campus, including buildings, grounds and infrastructure.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Essential Functions

• Completes daily maintenance duties such as trash removal, building repairs, responding to maintenance calls and snow removal.


• Participates in long-term maintenance projects, such as repair/remodel of rooms, buildings and other improvements to grounds and infrastructure.


• Operates equipment safely, including but not limited to trucks, ground equipment, carpentry tools, etc.


• Completes routine maintenance of equipment to ensure good working condition.


• Maintains a clean and safe working environment, including vehicle construction areas.


• Works independently or as a team member to complete assignments in a timely manner.


• Attends and participates in meetings and training sessions.


• Works regularly-scheduled weekend rotations; must be able to arrive early or stay late when bad weather (snow) or other needs arise.

As a 24-hour operation, all staff may be asked to work weekends, evenings, night shifts and/or holidays in order to serve our members, guests, and program

Requirements

• A high school degree or equivalent is required.


• 1-3 years of experience,


• Demonstrates a strong knowledge of grounds keeping, painting, carpentry, plumbing, electrical, HVAC and/or mechanical repairs.


• Must have the ability to interpret data, oral and written.

• Must be able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with diverse groups of people representing all social and economic segments of the community.


• A valid driver’s license is required.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

This position requires the ability to stand, walk, kneel, stoop, lift, pull, climb, and push for prolonged periods; must be physically able to climb ladders, bend, or crawl into awkward spaces. Other physical requirements may include ability to lift up to 50 pounds at a time.
