Job summary

Northwest Human Services, Inc. West Salem Clinic is seeking a Maintenance Technician II to help create safe, functional spaces for staff and patients at our Salem, Oregon site.

You will diagnose HVAC issues, perform repairs before problems escalate, and support remodeling or space-reconfiguration projects with a focus on safety and reliability. The role emphasizes independent work, timely problem solving, and pride in maintaining a well-run facility.

Qualifications

  • At least 3 years of facilities, maintenance, trade, or related construction experience.
  • Hands-on maintenance and remodeling experience.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and repair building systems.
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize work.
  • Knowledge and safe operation of power tools.
  • Valid Oregon Driver's License, automobile insurance, good driving record.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnosing why an HVAC system isn't functioning properly.
  • Repairing a plumbing issue before it causes additional damage.
  • Troubleshooting an electrical or mechanical problem.
  • Completing preventive maintenance on building systems and equipment.
  • Inspecting facilities and identifying safety or maintenance concerns.
  • Repairing doors, flooring, fixtures, lighting, furnishings, and equipment.
  • Supporting remodeling, construction, or space-reconfiguration projects.
  • Responding to urgent maintenance or building-security issues.
  • Documenting inspections, repairs, and maintenance activities.

Position Overview

As a Maintenance Technician II, you help create safe, functional, reliable spaces where employees can do their best work and patients, clients, and community members can receive the services they need.

This is more than fixing what is broken.

You will be the person who notices the problem before it becomes an emergency, figures out why something isn't working, makes the repair safely, and takes pride in knowing the building is better because of your work.
