Job summary

Job description

This position will be responsible for providing maintenance services to keep the facility buildings, grounds, and equipment in good repair. In so doing, significant contributions are made to the safety, well‑being, and comfort of residents and employees.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Complete assigned work requests and preventative maintenance work orders as assigned by supervisor such as auto/small engine mechanics, carpentry, appliance repair, plumbing, electrical, emergency generators, low voltage applications, swimming pools, fire alarms, valves, fixtures, locks in accordance with campus procedures and industry acceptable standards.
  • Inspect facilities, systems and their components for the purpose of ensuring safety and cleanliness and identifying necessary repairs.
  • Use a variety of hand tools, small power tools and other power tools; maintain tools and equipment to ensure availability in safe operating condition.
  • Perform general labor and be responsible for event set‑ups, deliveries and moves.
  • Troubleshoot building and equipment issues as they arise.
  • Willingness to learn and expand trade knowledge of maintenance and facilities.
  • Have availability to be included in the on‑call schedule.
Education And Work Experience
  • Required Degree: High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Certificate(s): Valid Driver’s License and certifications in applicable field
  • Experience: 1+ Years
Knowledge, Skills, And Ability
  • Advanced skill knowledge of working machinery, equipment and systems within the field.
  • Ability to diagnose and repair various equipment.
  • Knowledge of safety protocols and procedures.
  • Ability to problem‑solve and work in a team.
  • Ability to adapt, prioritize and communicate.
Physical Requirements
  • Sufficient physical ability and mobility to work in an office/community setting.
  • Ability to stand or sit for prolonged periods of time.
  • Ability to occasionally stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach and twist.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and/or pull light to moderate amounts of weight up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to operate various equipment based on department and weather conditions.
  • Engaging in repetitive movements of wrists, hands and fingers – typing and/or writing.
  • Clarity of Vision:
    • For near visual acuity: clarity of vision at approximately 20 inches or less (i.e., working with small objects or reading small print), including use of computers.
    • For far visual acuity: clarity of vision at 20 feet or more, the ability to recognize features.
    • For peripheral vision: observing an area that can be seen up and down or to the right or left while eyes are fixed on a given point.
Compensation Pay Range

$17.17 - $22.86 per hour

Reasonable Pay Estimate

A reasonable estimate of the pay range for this position is $17.17 - $22.86 per hour. Factors considered include job‑related qualifications, experience, skills, education, geographic location and consideration of internal and external equity.
