2Life Communities in Newton Highlands, MA is seeking a Maintenance Technician II with strong troubleshooting and hands-on technical skills to keep our aging buildings safe and welcoming for residents.

You will handle electrical, plumbing, boiler tasks, preventive checks, unit preparations, and emergency coverage, while collaborating with Resident Service Teams and maintaining an organized inventory.

Qualifications

• Five years of hands-on maintenance experience.
• OSHA regulations knowledge preferred.
• Hoisting license preferred.

Responsibilities

• Respond to work orders and perform mechanical tasks including electrical, plumbing, and boiler work.
• Perform preventive maintenance and inspections in mechanical spaces and boiler rooms.
• Prepare vacant apartments for new residents.
• Inspect units with Resident Service Teams for safety and compliance.
• Maintain inventory for equipment and tools.
• Pest control inspections and follow-up.
• Available for evening, weekend, and holiday emergency coverage.
• Report safety concerns to the Director of Facilities/ED and file incident reports.
• May rotate to other 2Life buildings.

Are you a skilled maintenance professional who takes pride in keeping things running smoothly? We’re looking for a Maintenance Technician II with strong troubleshooting skills, hands‑on technical expertise, and a proactive approach to facility maintenance. In this role, you’ll play a key part in maintaining a safe, efficient, and welcoming environment—where your expertise truly makes a difference every day.

Essential Job Functions

• Respond to work orders and perform general mechanical tasks, including electrical, plumbing, heating, appliance repairs, groundskeeping and snow and ice removals.
• Execute preventive maintenance and routine engineering checks in mechanical and boiler rooms.
• Prepare vacant apartments for new residents.
• Perform unit inspections in tandem with Resident Service Teams to ensure building/unit integrity, safety, and compliance.
• Maintain an inventory management system for all equipment and tools.
• Responsible for pest control inspection and follow‑up treatment.
• Must be available to respond when assigned to evening, weekend, and holiday emergency coverage.
• Report any accident, injury, or safety concerns to the Director of Facilities/Executive Director (ED) and complete incident reports immediately.
• May rotate as building mechanic to other 2Life buildings.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• Must have at least five years of hands‑on experience; Post‑secondary technical training preferred.
• Knowledge of OSHA regulations, elevators and high‑rise building systems preferred.
• Hoisting License preferred.
• High comfort level with older adults ranging in age from approximately 62 to 102 years of age.
• Valid Massachusetts driver’s license.
• Must be able to operate hand and power tools safely.

Working Conditions/Physical Demands

• Ability to frequently lift and move objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Regularly required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, climb, etc. Must have full use of arms, hands, and finger dexterity to reach, lift, pull, push, and feel.
• Ability to work outdoors in winter conditions.
