Job summary

Catallia Mexican Foods in Minnesota is seeking an experienced Maintenance Technician II to troubleshoot, service, repair, and adjust automated equipment and building systems. This role supports a safe, productive work environment and collaborates with the maintenance team to keep production lines running smoothly.

This hands-on position requires strong electrical and mechanical skills, familiarity with PLCs, VFDs, and PanelView/HMI systems, and the ability to work with outside contractors.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 1-2 year technical certification in maintenance mechanics, electricity, electronics or 3-4 years of industrial maintenance experience.
• Experience in a food production or bakery environment is a big plus.
• Experience in building and automating equipment with a high mechanical aptitude.
• Experience with automated food processing equipment (preferred).
• TIG welding skills required and troubleshooting mechanical and electrical controls with voltmeter, sensors, motors, etc.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to a predictive and preventative maintenance program to improve production efficiency and machine time availability (Robotics, Automated Processing Equipment, HVAC, Refrigeration).
• Regularly inspect plant facilities and equipment to support effective operation.
• Occasionally communicate and work with outside contractors.
• Maintain safety for food and teammate safety issues and keep area organized.
• Communicate needs to maintenance team and ensure clarity across shifts.

2nd: 2:00 p.m. - 10:30 p.m. (Monday - Friday, every other Saturday or Sunday)

Position Overview

This is a hands-on position and will require the individual to troubleshoot, service, repair, and adjust automated equipment and building systems.

This individual will be responsible for contributing to a consistent, safe, and productive work environment and adhering to operational and personnel policies and procedures. With a focus on the success of the overall operation, the individual will work closely with the maintenance team to handle repairs of automated equipment and other scheduled maintenance activities.

Key Responsibilities & Essential Functions

• Contribute to an effective, predictive, and preventative maintenance program (including repair, modification, and installation of equipment) in order to improve production efficiency and ensure optimum machine time availability. This will include Robotics, Automated Processing Equipment, HVAC systems, Refrigeration Systems, and other plant operational systems.
• Regularly inspect plant facilities, production support systems, and equipment in order to support effective plant operation. Respond to "line calls" from production to assist with the uptime of the equipment.
• Will occasionally communicate and work with outside contractors.
• Maintain facility and equipment for safety (food and teammate) issues and respond appropriately.
• Contribute to a fully operational maintenance shop by communicating needs and keeping the area neat and organized.
• Communicate effectively with maintenance team members from other shifts to ensure clarity and continuity.
• Follow instructions as directed by the Maintenance Manager or a designate of the Maintenance Manager.

General Responsibilities

• Promote all plant safety, GMP's, and food safety policies and procedures
• Actively participate in Food Safety and Food Defense-related activities
• Perform additional duties as directed.

Education & Experience

• High school graduate or equivalent
• 1-2 year Technical Certification in maintenance mechanics, electricity, electronics, or 3-4 years of industrial maintenance experience.
• Experience in a food production or bakery environment is a big plus.
• Experience in building and automating equipment with a high mechanical aptitude.
• Experience with automated food processing equipment (preferred).
• TIG welding and fabrication skills required.
• Troubleshooting mechanical and some electrical controls with the use of a voltmeter, sensors, motors, etc.

Technical and Role Expectations

• Strong working knowledge of electrical systems (240V-480V)
• Experience with PLC troubleshooting (programming under authorization)
• Familiarity with VFDs (Variable Frequency Drives) and PanelView/HMI systems
• Ability to perform basic electrical tasks (e.g., outlets, wiring)
• Must provide own basic hand tools (metric & standard)

Physical Requirements/Environment

• Stand/Walking: Continuously (6-8 hours or more)

• Lift/Carry: Continuously/Frequently up to 50lbs.
