Job summary

Catallia Mexican Foods is seeking an experienced Electromechanical Technician for our Minnesota plant. You will test and troubleshoot electrical control and safety systems, work on PLCs, VFDs, and alarms, and coordinate with production and quality teams for emergency repairs and scheduled maintenance.

You will collaborate with maintenance on conduit wiring changes, and support wiring installations, pneumatic/hydraulic systems, and conveyor controls to keep the line running safely and efficiently.

Qualifications

  • Technical certification or education in Electro-Mechanical Technology or related field.
  • Strong English communication in workplace.
  • Experience reading electrical wiring diagrams.
  • Experience with PLCs and VFDs.
  • 2-4 years in industrial electrical work or equivalent.
  • Solid mechanical background in manufacturing.

Responsibilities

  • Work with maintenance on conduit and wiring changes and installations.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot alarm systems, including weather and fire.
  • Collaborate on MIG/TIG welding projects as needed.
  • Implement control system changes and ensure completion.
  • Troubleshoot pneumatic and hydraulic systems and controls.
  • Troubleshoot conveyor stems and controls.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot VFD systems in the plant.
  • Troubleshoot all PLC systems.
  • Support preventative maintenance programs and safety policies.
  • Inspect plant equipment to support operations.

Catallia Mexican Foods is looking for an experienced Electromechanical Technician with expertise in food manufacturing to join our team!
Shifts
  • 1st: 2:00pm - 10:30p.m. (Monday - Friday, every other Saturday or Sunday)
  • 2nd: 2:00 p.m. - 10:30 p.m. (Monday - Friday, every other Saturday or Sunday)
Position Overview

This is a hands-on position and will require that the individual complete testing of controls of all new and existing electrical control and safety systems in the plant and all external buildings within the campus. PLC troubleshooting of new and existing PLC systems will be accomplished by this individual, as well as maintaining existing alarm systems.

This individual will be responsible for contributing to a consistent, safe, and productive work environment through participation in corporate programs and adhering to operational and personnel policies and procedures. With a focus on the success of the overall operation, the individual will work closely with the production and quality teams to handle emergency repairs while coordinating and executing scheduled maintenance activities.

Key Responsibilities & Essential Duties
  • Work closely with the maintenance team/manager on shift for conduit and wiring changes and installations.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot existing alarm systems, including severe weather and fire.
  • Work closely with the maintenance team on MIG, TIG welding projects as needed.
  • Implement all control system changes and follow through to completion.
  • Troubleshoot and maintain all pneumatic systems and controls.
  • Troubleshoot and maintain all hydraulic systems and controls.
  • Troubleshoot and maintain all conveyor stems and controls.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot VFD systems within the plant
  • Troubleshoot all PLC systems.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Contribute to an effective, predictive, and preventative maintenance program (including repair, modification, and installation of equipment) to improve production efficiency and ensure optimum machine time availability.
  • Regularly inspect plant equipment and production support systems to support effective plant operations.
  • Promote all plant safety, GMP's and food safety policies and procedures
  • Performs mechanical and electrical troubleshooting.
Basic Qualifications
  • Must have technical certification, education, or relevant experience in Electro-Mechanical Technology, Industrial Maintenance, or a related field.
  • Must be able to read, write, and understand English well enough to communicate effectively and safely in the workplace.
  • Must be proficient in equipment evaluation, installation, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair.
  • Must have working knowledge of Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) and Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs).
  • Must have 2-4 years of industrial electrical experience or equivalent experience as an Apprentice Electrician.
  • Must have a strong mechanical background in a manufacturing environment.
  • Must have basic computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office.
  • Must be able to read and understand electrical wiring schematics.
  • Must have strong mechanical troubleshooting and repair skills.
  • Must know electrical, hydraulic, and HVAC systems.
  • Must have basic welding knowledge and skills.
Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to stand, walk, and bend throughout the assigned shift.
  • Must be comfortable performing repetitive movements and tasks.
  • Must be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be comfortable working in a hot environment.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds repeatedly.
  • Must be able to push and pull occasionally.
