What We Do – Accountabilities
- Ensure safe and efficient operation of the distribution center equipment by:
- Proactive preventive maintenance of equipment
- Quick response to breakdowns to minimize mechanical downtime
- Meeting or exceeding OSHA, NFPA, and other safety regulations, including documenting inspections and performing fire system inspections
- Follow prescribed processes and procedures to maximize equipment readiness and product flow within the distribution center by:
- Monitoring the interior and exterior of the facility and conducting necessary equipment repairs
- Collaborating to fix or upgrade systems when needed
- Provide effective production support proactively and reactively through:
- Regular equipment monitoring
- Follow-up with equipment users after repairs or system upgrades
Essential Functions
- Adhere to all safety guidelines, emphasizing Lock-out Tag-out, Fall protection, and OSHA compliance
- Obtain and maintain a PIV (powered industrial vehicle) license within 90 days of employment to operate warehouse PIV equipment
- Coordinate activities of maintenance, PIV, facilities, and grounds maintenance contractors
- Perform mechanical and electrical repairs, from routine to advanced, on warehouse distribution equipment
- Conduct diagnostics and repairs on motor control systems, forklifts, scanners, and building systems
- Design, oversee, and assist in installing electrical circuits per applicable codes
- Utilize various test and metering equipment proficiently
- Develop and utilize PLC logic for troubleshooting and modifications
- Perform welding and fabrication, including ARC, MIG, and gas welding, from drawings
- Carry out preventive maintenance, repairs, and overhauls on all related equipment
- Identify damaged or defective equipment and repair promptly
- Experience with Building Management Systems is preferred
- Identify safety hazards and implement safe solutions
- Work independently or as part of a team effectively
- Provide departmental training based on expertise
- Lead projects and coordinate efforts of team members
- Maintain cleanliness in work areas
- Keep accurate maintenance records
- Coordinate third-party specialist contractors
- Perform routine testing of fire sprinkler systems
- Conduct basic grounds maintenance, snow shoveling, and salting
- Perform all tasks on target and other duties as assigned
- Participate in periodic training, retraining, and certification
- Possess in-depth knowledge of high-speed conveyance systems and components
Preferred Qualifications & Education
- 3-5 years of facilities maintenance or technician experience
- Success in mechanical/electrical training programs; moderate to advanced knowledge in these areas
- Maintain professional demeanor and appearance
- Physically capable of lifting 50 pounds
- High School Diploma or GED required
