Job description

The City of Roanoke is seeking a Maintenance Technician I to perform work on the Streets Maintenance Crew. The successful candidate will engage in skilled work involving the operation of heavy motorized equipment used for roadway maintenance and repairs, including asphalt distributors, dump trucks, backhoes, heavy front-end loaders, and large motor graders. Responsibilities include making repairs to alleys, road shoulders, medians, curbs, and sidewalks, servicing and repairing equipment, and operating independently or supervising a street maintenance crew in the absence of a supervisor. The role also involves snow removal, emergency tasks, maintaining logs, and supporting division tasks. A high school diploma or GED and two to three years of related experience or training are required, along with a valid Class B Commercial Driver's License or the ability to obtain one within 12 months. Ability to obtain a Tanker Endorsement may also be required within 12 months.
