Job summary

The Wonderful Citrus, part of The Wonderful Company, is hiring an entry-level Maintenance Mechanic to support preventive and corrective maintenance on packaging equipment such as baggers, printers, and CSMA machines. You will learn, grow, and assist a team focused on safety and efficiency.

Responsibilities include operating equipment, performing inspections, troubleshooting across mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems, and escalating issues as needed.

Qualifications

• Reading, analyzing, interpreting and presenting general business items to groups of coworkers, managers, clients, customers, and the public.
• Ability to work with basic mathematical concepts (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division).
• Willingness to work overtime, weekends and rotating/varying shifts; available for emergency call-outs.

Responsibilities

• Ensure safety compliance (LOTO, fall protection, hot work).
• Operate and assist in Baggers, Printers, CSMAs, Weighers and Box Formers.
• Perform regular uptime/downtime inspections and preventative maintenance.
• Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic systems on equipment.
• Collaborate with Operators to maximize equipment efficiency.
• Assist training and development for operators and teammates.
• Create work requests in CMMS and document work performed.
• Escalate issues to lead or supervisor as needed.
• Assist Packaging Specialist with repairs and improvements.

Job Description

Overview:

Individual will perform preventative and corrective maintenance, and will be responsible for knowing the operation, assisting the setup and minor mechanical repairs to packaging equipment. (Baggers, Printers, CSMAs, Weighers and Box Formers). This position is an entry level position with the expectation that members to learn and grow. Must be able to assist all team members on the Maintenance Mechanic Team, for support and personal development.

Here’s what you’ll do:

• Ensures self and coworkers are compliant with all safety rules and regulations (LOTO, fall protection, hot work, etc.)
• Provide and assist in the operation of the Baggers, Printers, CSMAs, Weighers and Box Formers
• Perform uptime and downtime inspections, lubrications, predictive, preventative, and corrective maintenance on a regular basis to ensure proper performance
• Learns how to troubleshoot and repair all mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems on Baggers, Printers, CSMAs, Weighers and Box Formers
• Collaborates with Operators to ensure equipment runs and operates at the highest efficiencies
• Assist training and development to operators and other team members
• Research system and component specifications using equipment manuals, schematics, parts breakdowns, online information, and vendor communication
• Dismantle and reassemble complex pieces of machinery in an efficient, precise and reliable manner
• Creates work requests, work orders, and request parts in Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) and documents details of work performed
• Escalate technical, procedural, and personnel related issues to direct lead or supervisor as necessary
• Performs other assigned duties and projects
• Assist Packaging Specialist on repairs and improvements to equipment
• Will be responsible for response and clearing Bin Jams in area of responsibility
• Minorrebuild and preparation of rollers. i.e. replacement of bearings, shafts, and sprockets.

Qualifications

Here’s what you’ll bring to the table:

• High School diploma or GED equivalent required
• Technical degree and three years or more of related experience and/or training in a production/manufacturing environment is preferred (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
• Individual must be able to read, analyze, interpret, and present out general business items to groups of coworkers, managers, clients, customers, and the general public
• Employee must possess ability to work with basic mathematical concepts such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division
• To successfully support the business needs, the employee will be expected to work overtime, weekends and rotating/varying shifts, as well as be available for emergency call-out as needed
• Stand and/or walk for up to 12 hour shift
• Drive vehicles
• Climb on a ladder or scaffolding to heights in excess of 10’, balance, and work above the shoulders frequently
• Bend/stoop, kneel, crouch, and squat frequently for extended periods of time
• Use both hands for frequent grasping and occasional fine manipulation and fingering
• Occasionally carry and lift up to 50 pounds above the shoulders
• Occasionally push or pull various items, such as equipment, filters, motors, tools, and compressors pumps up to 75 pounds
• Work at heights
• Tolerate required personal protective equipment such as steel toed shoes, work gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, dust masks, and safety harnesses on a continuous basis

Pay Rate:$23.18 - $24.21. Final compensation will be dependent upon skills & experience.
