Job Description

The purpose of the Central Maintenance Technician I or II is to support the mission of Housing Connect by providing high-quality customer service to maximize our ability to fill vacant units, thereby giving low-income persons in Salt Lake County access to affordable housing. This involves working with other personnel to coordinate essential agency functions, following HUD and Housing Connect policies and procedures in all customer service and maintenance functions.

Rate of Pay: $20.00-23.00/hour DOE
Schedule: M-F 7:30 am - 4:00 pm, Rotating On-Call

Responsibilities & Duties:

Unit Preparation

  • Work with Supervisor and Property Managers to prepare, paint, and turn units efficiently.
  • Maintain, repair, and upgrade properties owned and/or operated by Housing Connect.
  • Maintain all exterior paintable surfaces.
  • Perform and coordinate dwelling maintenance including but not limited to: doors, electrical, floor repair, furnaces, lighting, locks, mechanical, painting, pest control, plumbing, roofs, structural, windows.

Team Work

  • Assist with grounds care, fence repair, etc.
  • Assist with customer service and work orders.
  • Provide coverage and assistance at properties.

Client Needs

  • Meet client needs by providing interpretation and translation services, when appropriate, using agency-approved resources.

On Call

  • Provide scheduled 24-hour on-call coverage as assigned.
  • Assist with snow removal, as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Pesticide Applicator License, within 30 days of employment.
  • Two years of related experience; trades and crafts schooling is desirable but not essential if abilities are adequate.
  • Knowledge of proper use and care of tools and equipment.
  • Proficiency in English, both written and spoken.
  • Valid Driver’s License with a good driving record.

Miscellaneous

  • Must be personable, dependable, honest, and able to work closely with many people.
  • Flexible hours and work schedules are required.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
