Job summary

Cox in Matteson, IL is seeking a reliable facilities custodian to maintain buildings, grounds and equipment, perform light carpentry, and operate cleaning machinery. The role requires a HS diploma or GED with 3 years’ related experience or 5 years in the field, and a valid driver’s license. Typical schedule is Monday–Friday, 7:00am–3:30pm.

Compensation ranges from $20.00 to $30.00 per hour, with potential for additional incentives. Benefits include paid time off and holidays.

• Perform routine carpentry work for maintenance of buildings and offices.
• Operate snow removal equipment for parking lots and sidewalks.
• Maintain all buildings, property and equipment for the site.
• Ensure all buildings are kept clean.
• Empty and clean wastebaskets and trash containers.
• Maintain tools and equipment in good working condition and follow safety rules.
• Demonstrate safety commitment and participate in Safety Excellence activities.
• Perform other duties as assigned by manager or supervisor.
• May work overtime as needed.

Job Responsibilities

• Perform routine carpentry work in the repair and maintenance of buildings, offices, etc.
• Operate snow removal equipment to maintain parking lots and sidewalks.
• Maintain all buildings, property and equipment for the site.
• Ensure all buildings are kept clean.
• Empty and clean wastebaskets and trash containers.
• Maintain tools and equipment in good working condition and comply with applicable safety rules.
• Visibly demonstrate safety commitment by following all safety and health procedures and modeling the behaviors related to such. Actively participate in support of all safety activities aligned with Safety Excellence.
• Perform other duties as assigned by manager or supervisor, i.e., moving furniture, unloading and storing supplies, etc.
• May be required to work overtime as business needs dictate.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED and 3 years' experience in a related field.
• OR the right candidate could also have a different combination, such as any level degree/certification beyond a HS diploma/GED in a related discipline;
• OR 5 years' experience in a related field
• Safe driver's needed; valid driver's license required

Schedule

• Monday - Friday
• 7:00am - 3:30pm

Preferred

• Skill and knowledge to perform light/basic electrical, plumbing and carpentry repairs required.
• Good communication and organizational skills required.
• Regularly required to stand, walk, reach, talk and hear.
• Frequently required to stoop, kneel, crouch, bend, squat and climb.
• Medium strength. Ability to lift 1-50 pounds.
• Vision abilities required include close, distance and color vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
• Custodial duties

USD 20.00 - 30.00 per hour

Compensation

Hourly pay rate is in the range of $20.00 - $30.00/hour. The hourly base rate may vary within the anticipated range based on factors such as the ultimate location of the position and the selected candidate's knowledge, skills, and abilities. Position may be eligible for additional compensation that may include commission (annual, monthly, etc.) and/or an incentive program.

Benefits

• Employees are eligible to receive a minimum of sixteen hours of paid time off every month and seven paid holidays throughout the calendar year.
• Employees are also eligible for additional paid time off in the form of bereavement leave, time off to vote, jury duty leave, volunteer time off, military leave, and parental leave.
