Job summary
HMHSS Homeport Hampton Roads in Norfolk, VA is seeking Maintenance Technicians at multiple levels to support the upkeep and readiness of our housing communities. You will perform general maintenance and help ready units during turnover, with duties spanning HVAC, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, and other building tasks.
This role requires physical work outdoors in all weather, and may involve driving for company business.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Able to lift up to 50 pounds regularly and work outside in all weather.
- Driver's License required and reliable attendance emphasized.
- EPA 608 Certification within 180 days for Level 2/3 hires.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills; basic computer literacy.
Responsibilities
- Respond to service requests for HVAC, plumbing, appliances, water heaters and more.
- Perform skilled work in trades (HVAC, plumbing, electrical, etc.) and troubleshoot.
- Document all work per company policy and maintain tools/equipment.
- Follow PPE and safety practices and preventive maintenance schedules.
- Assist in make-ready of vacated units (painting, carpentry, flooring, etc.).
- Perform emergency maintenance and repairs as needed.
- Level 3 mentors others and supports troubleshooting across the team.
