Job summary

The Salvation Army in Waco, TX seeks a Facilities Maintenance worker to perform routine repairs and preventive maintenance on buildings and grounds, including minor HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and carpentry tasks. This on-site role requires attention to safety and accurate record-keeping.

You will inspect systems, replace lighting, perform minor mechanical repairs, and supervise contracted services as needed. A high school diploma and 2–3 years of maintenance experience are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Two to three years of maintenance and repair experience for commercial buildings and grounds.
• Valid State Driver License.

Responsibilities

• Performs routine building maintenance activities and minor plumbing repairs (e.g., leaking faucets, clogged toilets, sprinkler malfunctions); performs carpentry repairs to fix dents/holes and paints walls; performs minor electrical repairs.
• Monitors and repairs/replaces lighting systems, including light bulbs, fluorescent tubes, spotlights, exit lights, and other lighting malfunctions.
• Inspects, tests, adjusts, and repairs physical machinery, heating, cooling, piping, and electrical systems; records maintenance according to schedules.
• Troubleshoots and repairs minor mechanical malfunctions; performs preventive maintenance on vehicles, dishwashers, laundry machines, vent fans, etc.
• Repairs walls, floors, ceilings, cabinets, and furniture.
• Maintains supplies, parts, and equipment belonging to the Facilities Department.
• Performs maintenance activities including construction, welding, brazing, soldering, and plumbing under the supervision of the Property Manager and/or Maintenance Supervisor.
• Checks and repairs pumps, fans, valves, and motors.
• Prepares accurate records for preventive maintenance.
• Assembles and moves office furniture, including chairs, desks, tables, bulletin boards, etc.
• Supervises and monitors regularly scheduled contract services as needed (e.g., pest control, copy machines, telephone, street lighting, utilities).
