Job summary

WinnCompanies is seeking a Maintenance Technician I to join our Hampstead Brightwood team, overseeing three multifamily affordable housing properties totaling up to 218 units in Washington, DC.

You’ll perform maintenance in rental units, common areas, offices, grounds and parking lots, with a Monday–Friday 8:00 AM–5:00 PM schedule and on-call duty for one week followed by three weeks off.

Qualifications

• Less than 1 year of relevant work experience.
• General knowledge of electrical, plumbing, appliances, and HVAC.
• Own hand tools required.
• Valid driver’s license in good standing.

Responsibilities

• Perform repairs in areas such as appliances, carpentry, hardware, masonry, painting, basic electrical, plumbing and HVAC.
• Complete assigned service requests and repairs per company procedures.
• Assist in preparing vacant apartments for market-ready status.
• Maintain grounds and curb appeal, including snow removal and trash management.
• Be available for on-call activity during off-hours per the schedule.

About the Opportunity

WinnCompanies is searching for a Maintenance Technician I to join our team at Hampstead Brightwood, three multifamily affordable housing properties totaling up to 218 units located in Washington, D.C.

In this role, you will perform maintenance functions in the community, including rental units, residential common areas, office, grounds and parking lots.

The pay range for this role is $21.00-$23.00 per hour. The selected candidate will adhere to the following schedule: Monday through Friday from 8:00AM to 5:00PM and on-call duty being on-call for 1 week and off 3 weeks.

Responsibilities:

• Perform repairs in such areas as, but not limited to, appliances, carpentry, hardware accessories, masonry, painting, basic electrical, basic plumbing, and basic HVAC.
• Complete assigned service requests and repairs consistent with company operating procedures.
• Assist in preparing vacant apartments for market ready status in accordance with company standards.
• Maintain grounds and curb appeal through snow removal, landscaping, and trash management activities.
• Be available for on-call activity during off-hours and emergencies based on a pre-determined schedule and need.

Requirements:

• Less than 1 year of relevant work experience.
• General knowledge of electrical, plumbing, appliances, and HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning).
• A current vehicle license in good standing and meet the driving records standards outlined in the Company Safe Vehicular Operations Policy.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Basic familiarity with computers and tablets.
• Availability for on-call activity during off hours for urgent needs.
• Ability to speak and understand basic English.
• Ability to work with a diverse group of people and personalities.
• Must have own hand tools and specialty tools provided.
• Willingness to learn and exhibit great customer service skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Vocational or technical training.
• Certificate for Apartment Maintenance Technicians (CAMT).
• Experience with RealPage OneSite and other property management software.
• Proficient with web-based applications and computer systems such as Microsoft Office.
• Computer and mobile device savvy.
• Bilingual in English and Spanish.
