Job summary

Weekender Hotels is hiring a Maintenance Technician I to handle routine maintenance, preventive care, and basic repairs across our properties. You’ll address minor fixes, assist with larger projects, and help maintain guest comfort and safety in a fast-growing hospitality startup.

You’ll work on-site at our NYC-area and other US locations, with a focus on reliability, safety, and guest satisfaction. This entry-level role offers hands-on learning and opportunities to grow within the maintenance

Qualifications

• Understanding of basic plumbing, electrical, and HVAC systems to troubleshoot and repair minor issues.
• Proficiency in carpentry, painting, and general repair tasks.
• Ability to diagnose issues and identify solutions to maintenance problems.
• Excellent communication skills to interact with guests and staff regarding maintenance requests.
• Ability to work in varying temperatures.
• Experience using hand and electrical tools.
• Physical stamina and dexterity.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to be on foot for long periods, up to 90% of day.
• Frequent lifting, pulling, pushing, carrying, crawling, and/or bending throughout shift.
• Ability to lift or carry up to 50lbs from time to time.

Responsibilities

• Perform basic repairs such as light bulb replacement, unclogging drains, patching walls, and minor carpentry or painting tasks.
• Assist with routine inspections of equipment (HVAC, plumbing, safety devices) and report issues promptly.
• Support outdoor upkeep including light landscaping, snow removal, or debris cleanup.
• Complete assigned work orders accurately and on time.
• Follow safety procedures when using tools, equipment, and chemicals.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization in maintenance areas and storage spaces.
• Provide courteous and timely responses to guest and staff requests.
• Assist Maintenance II and leadership staff with larger repairs or projects.
