Job summary

Salvation Army A Georgia Corp is seeking a Maintenance Technician to keep Salvation Army facilities well‑maintained and safe. You will perform groundskeeping, perform repairs on mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems, and assist with lighting and painting tasks across one or more buildings.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED and 1–2 years of relevant experience in commercial maintenance, with a valid driver’s license.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• 1–2 years of responsible maintenance/repair experience for commercial buildings or grounds, or construction work.
• Valid state driver’s license required.

Responsibilities

• Perform groundskeeping and routine repairs to maintain Salvation Army facilities.
• Repair and maintain heating and air conditioning equipment; adjust and repair mechanical systems.
• Paint interior/exterior surfaces, change air filters and belts on motors.
• Inspect and test electrical systems; document maintenance in schedules.
• Assist with lighting repairs (bulbs, tubes, fixtures) and general troubleshooting.
• Handle heavy lifting and physical tasks related to building upkeep.

Schedule/Hours: M – F 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Rotating On-Call dutiesThis position is responsible for:Performs a variety of grounds keeping work in order to maintain the health and beautification of grounds surrounding Salvation Army buildings; performs routine repairs and maintenance of buildings and equipment.Key Responsibilities:Repairs mechanical malfunctions and performs preventative maintenance on heating and air condition equipment; adjusts and repairs physical plant machinery, heating and cooling systems.Coordinates and performs ongoing maintenance of the interior and structural portion of all facilities to include painting, changing air filters, and changing belts on all motors.Inspects, tests, and adjusts physical plant machinery; maintains electrical systems, and records in accordance with schedules.Participates in the repair of toilets, urinals, showers, drains, etc.; participates in the repair and replacement of light bulbs, fluorescent tubes, spotlights, exit lights, and other minor lighting malfunctions; assists in maintaining and/or fixing related issues with cooling and heating system, water pump system, and other issues that the building may require.Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:Ability to meet attendance requirements.Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language effectively.Ability to perform strenuous, heavy work involving the lifting and carrying of heavy objects.Ability to perform continuous walking, stooping, standing, and some climbing.Ability to drive a vehicle safely and in compliance of all laws and regulations.Extensive amount of physical effort required associated with lifting, moving, and carrying heavy objects (more than 50 lbs.) frequently.Employee Benefits:Paid Time OffMedical and Life InsuranceSupplement Insurance AvailableVoluntary Life InsuranceEducation and Experience:High school diploma or G.E.D,ANDOne to two years responsible experience performing maintenance and repair work for commercial buildings and grounds or performing construction work,ORAny equivalent combination of training and experience, which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.Certifications:Valid State Drivers LicenseEqual Opportunity Employer: Veterans | Disabled
