Job summary

Champion Foods is seeking a Maintenance Technician I to provide general electrical and mechanical support for our manufacturing facility. You will perform troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, and repairs on production equipment and utilities, ensuring safe, compliant, and efficient operations.

The role requires reading schematics, training others, and working with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced bakery environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Minimum of two years of industrial maintenance experience or advanced education in electrical, mechanical, or electronics.
• Working knowledge of GMP, OSHA requirements, and other regulations.
• Ability to obtain the minimum assessment level for Maintenance Technician II.
• Ability to work extended hours when necessary.
• Evidence of ability to analyze situations, exercise judgment, and make sound decisions.
• Attention to detail and accuracy.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Maintain, troubleshoot and repair manufacturing equipment.
• Maintain, troubleshoot and repair facilities and utilities (air, boilers, HVAC).
• Troubleshoot electrical equipment (single-phase AC and DC).
• Perform daily changeovers and equipment setups.
• Read and interpret mechanical/electrical manuals and schematics.
• Train production line staff on equipment operation.
• Perform preventive maintenance as scheduled and document results.
• Complete work orders and report results.
• Provide technical assistance to reduce equipment issues affecting performance, quality, or safety.
• Participate in special projects as directed by maintenance management.
• Inform personnel of modifications or malfunctions impacting operations.
• Ensure compliance with FDA, USDA, HACCP, GMP and other policies.
• Maintain a safe, clean working area per OSHA and food plant regulations.
• Support shift handovers and ensure equipment readiness for next shift.
