Job summary

The Mennel Milling Company in Roanoke, VA is seeking a Maintenance Technician I to help keep plant equipment reliable and safe. This is a full-time role with a 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM shift, including weekends and potential holidays, focusing on preventive maintenance and testing.

You will troubleshoot, repair, and maintain mechanical and electrical systems, support GMP/OSHA/HACCP/FSMA requirements, and contribute to safe, audit-ready operations in a food production environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent with a technical/industrial degree preferred.
• 5 years of maintenance experience in flour milling or related manufacturing is desired.
• Strong troubleshooting, welding, fabrication, and crane operation abilities.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain mechanical and electrical equipment to maximize reliability.

What You'll Do

As a Maintenance Technician, you'll play a key role in maintaining and improving the reliability, safety, and performance of plant equipment, machinery, and processing systems while supporting food safety and operational excellence.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining mechanical and electrical equipment to maximize plant reliability and production efficiency.
• Performing preventive maintenance, welding, fabrication, equipment installation, and equipment testing to ensure safe and effective operations.
• Supporting food safety, GMP, OSHA, HACCP, and FSMA requirements while maintaining an audit-ready facility and clean work environment.

What We're Looking For

• High school diploma or equivalent and a 2-year degree or educational equivalent in a technical or industrial field such as electronics, mechatronics, mechanics, welding, automation, or a related field.
• Preferred minimum of 5 years of maintenance experience in flour milling, food processing, or a related manufacturing environment.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, welding and fabrication experience, valid driver's license, computer proficiency, and the ability to operate lifts, hoists, and overhead cranes.
