Qualifications

Position Overview

Improve overall Boston Whaler product quality by working closely with all Boston Whaler team members to drive quality at the source, and minimize resources required to achieve manufacturing goals with optimal quality levels. The Maintenance Mechanic performs general maintenance of facilities/equipment and completes necessary paperwork associated with maintenance activities to support production requirements.

Responsibilities
  • Analyzing and repair of mechanical problems associated with fork trucks, air compressors, and piping systems.
  • Repair and maintenance of FRP equipment.
  • Fabrication of wood and steel items.
  • Troubleshooting and repair of electrical systems including motor controls and lighting circuits.
  • Reading technical manuals and adhering to code requirements.
  • Maintaining records and completing required paperwork.
  • Addressing environmental issues.
  • Maintenance of grounds.
  • Facility cleaning / Janitorial responsibilities.
  • May perform other duties as necessary.
Experience/Qualifications

Education:

  • Must have a High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Technical training in mechanical/electrical field or maintenance mechanics required.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 1 year experience in repair and maintenance of mechanical/electrical systems/equipment in a manufacturing/industrial environment.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings/schematics.
  • PC-based software experience preferred.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and communicate fluently in English.
Preferred Additional Skills & Experience
  • Proactive team player and self-starter with a focus on continuous improvement.
  • Highly organized with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work with diverse teams.
  • Marine experience is a plus but not required.
Shift & Work Schedule
  • Multiple shifts available; standard is Monday – Thursday, 6:00 AM – 4:30 PM.
  • Overtime may be required based on business needs, including nights and weekends with shift differential pay.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements

The work environment is on the shop floor, which is non-climate controlled, with exposure to high temperatures, noise, moving mechanical parts, chemicals, fiberglass dust, and epoxy. Ability to stand for long periods, bend, reach, lift up to 50 pounds, and perform physical tasks is required. Reasonable accommodations can be provided for individuals with disabilities.

The anticipated pay range is $19.00 to $29.42 per hour, based on experience and location. Benefits include health coverage, paid time off, 401(k), and more.
