Maintenance Technician I

Shift: Night Shift

Hours: 4:45 PM - 5:00 AM

Schedule: 2-2-3 Swing Shift

Employment Type: Full-Time

Location: Bremen, IN

Scheduled overtime every other week, with additional overtime opportunities available.

Employees work a 2-2-3 schedule consisting of approximately 36 hours one week and 48 hours the following week, resulting in approximately 14 scheduled workdays per month and every other Friday, Saturday, and Sunday off.

Position Summary

The Maintenance Technician supports manufacturing operations by providing multi-craft equipment maintenance with a focus on equipment reliability, safety, and maintainability.

This position is responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, maintaining, and improving production machinery and equipment. The ideal candidate will have a strong combination of mechanical and electrical maintenance experience within an industrial manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot equipment malfunctions using logical and systematic troubleshooting methods.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical issues on manufacturing and production equipment.
• Perform preventive and predictive maintenance on motors, conveyor systems, and other production machinery.
• Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair electrical systems up to 480V.
• Test electrical systems and circuit continuity using diagnostic equipment such as voltmeters and ohmmeters.
• Install, examine, replace, and repair electrical wiring, receptacles, switch boxes, conduits, lighting fixtures, and related electrical components.
• Install and properly align mechanical drive systems.
• Troubleshoot and maintain hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
• Complete assigned preventive maintenance tasks, including major service and equipment overhauls.
• Identify and replace failed parts and components.
• Adjust equipment to return machinery to proper operational specifications.
• Interpret electrical and mechanical schematics, technical drawings, and OEM manuals.
• Recommend process or procedural improvements based on observed equipment performance and recurring issues.
• Maintain accurate maintenance and repair records within the applicable CMMS.
• Document equipment history and maintenance activities to support future preventive maintenance and reliability requirements.
• Follow all applicable safety procedures while performing maintenance activities.

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum of 5 years of industrial/manufacturing maintenance experience.
• Strong mechanical and electrical maintenance background.
• Experience troubleshooting electrical systems up to 480V.
• Hands-on experience with hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, technical documentation, and OEM manuals.
• Experience troubleshooting and repairing industrial production equipment.
• Ability to perform preventive maintenance as well as reactive/breakdown maintenance.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
• Experience documenting maintenance activities within a CMMS or similar maintenance system.

Preferred Qualifications

• Associate's degree or two-year technical degree in Industrial Maintenance, Electrical Technology, Mechatronics, or a related technical discipline.
• Multi-craft industrial maintenance experience.
• Experience maintaining motors, conveyors, mechanical drive systems, and automated production equipment.
• Strong understanding of equipment reliability and preventive maintenance practices.

Ideal Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate is a hands-on industrial maintenance technician who is comfortable troubleshooting both mechanical and electrical equipment in a manufacturing environment. Candidates should be capable of independently diagnosing equipment failures, working safely around electrical systems up to 480V, and performing both preventive and corrective maintenance. Strong candidates will have experience with industrial production equipment, motors, conveyors, mechanical drive systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, electrical troubleshooting, schematics, and CMMS documentation and will be comfortable working a 12-hour night shift schedule.
