Job summary

Powell Hall in St. Louis, MO, seeks a Maintenance Technician to support daily repairs for Powell Hall and the Jack C. Taylor Music Center, performing hands-on handyman work including carpentry, plumbing, electrical repairs, patching and painting to keep venues ready for performances.

The role also assists with events, adjusts building systems, coordinates with vendors, and supports front-of-house and production teams during performances.

Qualifications

• Experience with general repairs and maintenance in a performance venue.
• Able to perform handyman tasks including carpentry, plumbing and electrical work.
• Comfortable with minor patching, painting and equipment fixes.
• Familiarity with supporting events and coordinating with vendors.

Responsibilities

• Safety & Emergency Response: maintain evacuation procedures and act as on-site responder.
• Event Support: assist with setup/breakdown and monitor lobby lighting and HVAC as needed.
• Facility Maintenance: conduct walk-throughs and address safety, maintenance and appearance issues.
• Administrative & Technical Support: troubleshoot HVAC, plumbing and electrical issues and use templates.
• Collaboration: communicate effectively with staff, musicians and guest artists.
