Job summary

The City of Corpus Christi is seeking a Maintenance Technician Helper to assist field staff across HVAC, electrical, and plumbing, and to perform custodial and landscaping duties as needed.

This full-time on-site role requires working evenings, weekends, and holidays, and may involve emergency coverage to ensure public safety and vital services are delivered and restored.

Qualifications

• No prior experience required.
• Valid driver's license required; must obtain Texas license within 90 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Work with Maintenance Techs II to prepare rooms for painting and gather supplies.
• Assist with door repairs, ceiling tile grid repairs, and fence repairs.
• Complete other duties to assist Maintenance Techs.
• Work with HVAC staff to install/repair ducts and change filters.
• Assist HVAC technicians with repairs or installations.
• Work with plumbing staff to repair/install sinks, toilets, and pipes.
• Complete other duties to assist the plumber.
• Perform custodial duties at buildings as needed.
• Perform landscaping duties as needed.

Overview

The Maintenance Technician Helper will function as a helper to field staff in all trades, HVAC, Electrical, and Plumbing.This position will perform custodial and landscaping duties to buildings as needed.

Responsibilities

• Work with Maintenance Techs II which includes preparing rooms for painting by installing floor coverings and taping windows and fixtures as needed, gathering painting supplies, and cleaning worksites


• Assist with door repair/replacements as well as assist with ceiling tile grid repairs, replace ceiling tiles, and repairing fences


• Complete other duties needed to assist Maintenance Techs


• Work with HVAC field staff which includes installing or repairing ducts, changing filters, assisting in the repair or installation of HVAC systems


• Complete other duties needed to assist HVAC technicians


• Work with plumbing field staff which includes repairing or installing sink fixtures, repairing or Installing toilets, repairing or installing water pipes


• Complete other duties needed to assist the plumber


• Perform custodial duties at any building facility as needed


• Perform landscaping duties as needed


• May be asked to perform other duties as assigned

• Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays is a schedule requirement
