Job summary

The Statesboro location of the YMCA is seeking a Maintenance Assistant to support the Maintenance Director in caring for the facility and grounds. You will assist staff and members with program areas and equipment while upholding the YMCA's safety and service standards.

Responsibilities include preventive maintenance, landscaping, basic repairs, and safe handling of materials per OSHA/MSDS guidelines. A positive attitude and teamwork are essential for excellent member experiences.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED or equivalent.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Sound working knowledge of basic mechanical equipment functions.
• Ability to make general repairs as required.
• CPR and First Aid required within 30 days of employment.
• Must pass criminal background check and obtain authorization to work with children as per Georgia DOL and YMCA guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Remove and properly dispose of all materials and equipment as scheduled.
• Assist in the regular preventive maintenance of equipment as required.
• Maintain the appearance of the grounds including cutting grass and other landscaping work as needed.
• Assist in the repair of equipment and facilities as needed.
• Properly store, use, and dispose of all substances and materials as directed.
• Properly use equipment and materials according to YMCA and OSHA/MSDS standards and policies.
• Assist in the overall retention and satisfaction of YMCA members through appropriate customer service.
• Assist in the Annual Campaign fundraising program for the YMCA.
• Maintain a positive and cheerful attitude with staff, peers, and program participants.
