Job summary

The Guidance Center of Lea County is seeking a Maintenance Technician to perform general maintenance and repairs on facilities and equipment, including plumbing, electrical, carpentry, heating and cooling systems. The role emphasizes safety, accuracy, and keeping buildings in good working order.

The successful candidate will inspect equipment, plan repairs using blueprints or manuals, order supplies, and maintain monthly logs.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• At least 1 year of maintenance, janitorial, construction, or plumbing experience.
• Must pass CYFD/FBI fingerprint clearance check.
• Must have a valid driver’s license.
• Must pass Driving Record clearance per GCLC policies.
• Bilingual English/Spanish preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Perform general repairs (walls, doors, fixtures) that do not require specialized technicians.
• Maintain grounds and exterior areas as needed for safety.
• Inspect equipment or machines and identify repair needs.
• Troubleshoot issues to determine necessary repairs.
• Complete monthly building and vehicle maintenance logs and checklists.
• Plan repair work using blueprints or equipment manuals as needed.
• Perform routine maintenance on building systems.
• Order supplies and materials for repairs and maintenance.
• Maintain confidentiality of client and staff information as required.
