Job description

Join to apply for the Maintenance Technician – Full-Time role at Knoxville Hospital and Clinics.

This is a Full-Time position, working 40 hours a week during the day.

This position assists in the maintenance and repairs of the overall building and grounds of KHC facilities. Responsibilities include repairing systems and equipment, assisting in preventative maintenance procedures, and supporting new construction/remodeling projects. The Lead Tech is responsible for maintaining safety requirements and taking call during non-working hours to ensure continuous service to hospital patients and employees.

Essential Functions
  • Receives and completes assigned work orders for maintenance needs throughout KHC facilities.
  • Performs preventative maintenance on facility equipment and systems.
  • Assists in the maintenance and repair of boilers, HVAC equipment, pumps, motors, test equipment, electronic and computer controls, etc.
  • Ensures all hospital equipment and systems function safely and efficiently, providing input or assistance when issues arise.
  • Supports the use and repair of chemical feed equipment, including chemical mixing and usage.
  • Completes duties safely and efficiently, following safety protocols and using PPE.
  • Uses facility vehicles for errands within and outside city limits.
  • Assists with snow and ice removal during winter, including plowing and salting.
  • Maintains the exterior and grounds of the facilities, including watering, trimming, mowing, and chemical application.
  • Supports major construction projects, including carpentry, drywall, painting, door hanging, and moving furniture and equipment.
  • Assists with electrical work, such as wiring and conduit installation.
Job Requirements
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in building trades.
  • Training or experience in carpentry, electrical, plumbing, blueprint reading, boiler operation, and mechanics.
  • Prior experience in these areas preferred.
  • Valid Iowa driver’s license and proof of insurance.
  • Knowledge of tools, test equipment, and maintenance responsibilities.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to complete annual training and maintain licenses or certifications.
