HMR Veterans Services in Bay Minette, AL is seeking a Maintenance Assistant to care for grounds, facility, and equipment while ensuring safety and compliance with all standards. You will work under the Director of Plant & Maintenance Services and support resident care areas as needed.

The role requires a high school diploma and some maintenance experience, with responsibilities spanning repairs, upkeep, safety, and coordination with nursing services.

Qualifications

• Must have high school diploma or equivalent.
• Maintenance/plant-related experience a plus.
• Must read, write, speak, and understand English.
• Ability to make independent decisions and follow instructions.
• Ability to work tactfully with residents, staff, families and the public.

Responsibilities

• Maintain grounds, facility and equipment safely and efficiently.
• Follow maintenance schedules for respective shift or area.
• Report accidents to supervisor.
• Coordinate daily maintenance with nursing services when in resident areas.
• Attend departmental meetings and training as directed.
• Follow safety procedures and keep areas clean and orderly.
• Maintain facility in good repair for resident comfort.
• Assist in lifting heavy equipment as needed.
• Report equipment malfunctions to supervisor.
• Perform routine maintenance on grounds, parking areas, and facilities.
