Job summary

Custom Culinary, a Griffith Foods company, is seeking a Maintenance Technician for first shift at Oswego, IL. The role focuses on installing, maintaining and repairing machinery, electrical systems, and building structures to support high-quality food production.

Candidate should have 3–5 years of multi-craft experience, PLC experience, welding certification, and USDA/food industry exposure. Onsite work with potential Saturday overtime and safety compliance required.

Qualifications

• Associates degree or 2‑year certificate in Electrical Maintenance Technician or Mechatronics, or equivalent.
• Or high school diploma with 3 years of electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and PLC programming experience.
• Experience with food production equipment and OSHA safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Visually inspect and test machinery and equipment.
• Troubleshoot and repair equipment by identifying issues with machines.
• Document work orders using CMMS.
• Clean and lubricate shafts, bearings, gears, and other parts.
• Repair gauges, valves, pressure regulators, and related equipment.
• Maintain building structures and equipment.
• Set up machine tools and fabricate parts as needed.
• Perform PMs and PD.M and follow up with repairs.
• Support autonomous maintenance and SOPs for equipment.
• May operate forklift or PIE as required.
• Follow NFPA 70, LOTO and OSHA safety rules.
• Ensure BRC protocols are implemented and audited.

TITLE: Maintenance Technician - First Shift

LOCATION: Onsite at Oswego, IL

SHIFT & HOURS: Monday - Friday, 7:00am - 3:30pm with Saturday overtime as needed

Hiring Hourly Rate: $36.39/hr

Custom Culinary, a subsidiary of Griffith Foods, is hiring a Maintenance Technician to join the Maintenance Team. The Maintenance Technician is responsible for installing, maintaining and repairing machinery, equipment, physical structures, pipes and electrical systems to contribute to the production of high-quality food products in compliance with company standards.

Responsibilities

• Visually inspect and test machinery and equipment.
• Troubleshoot and repair equipment by identifying issues with machines.
• Document work orders using CMMS.
• Cleans and lubricates shafts, bearings, gears, and other parts of machinery.
• Repair and replace gauges, valves, pressure regulators, and related equipment.
• Repair and maintain the physical structure of the building.
• Set up and operate machine tools such as grinder, lathe, drill press, cutting torches or welding equipment; repair or fabricate machine parts, jigs and fixtures, and tools.
• Perform PMs (Preventive Maintenance) and PD.M (Predictive Maintenance) as required and follow up with repairs.
• Support operations with autonomous maintenance, SOPs and centerline programs for equipment.
• May operate a forklift or other PIE as required.
• Follow NFPA 70, LOTO and OSHA Safety rules.
• Ensure that BRC protocols are implemented and audited as required.

Qualifications

• Associates degree or two-year certificate from college or technical school in Electrical Maintenance Technician, Mechatronics, or equivalent program, OR high school diploma with three years of experience in electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and PLC programming.
• Experience handling food production equipment including mixers, fillers, packaging lines, palletizing systems, and bulk delivery systems.
• Ability to regularly lift and/or carry up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently; ability to read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence, and memos; ability to write simple correspondence; and the ability to communicate with individuals and small groups.
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
• Comfort in entering and working in confined spaces.
• Working knowledge or the ability to gain knowledge of RedZone software.
• Working overtime as needed throughout the week, up to and including Saturday work.
• Ability to stand, walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, and crouch for extended periods during the shift.
• Comfortable working with and around allergens and cleaning chemicals.
• Must be able to work onsite in Oswego, IL location.
• Candidates must be at least 18 years of age and have unrestricted authorization to work in the United States. Work visa sponsorship is not available for this role.
• 3-5 years of multi-craft experience (Electrical and Mechanical).
• 3 months of experience and/or training in a USDA-regulated manufacturing environment.
• PLC experience.
• Welding certification.

Physical & Environmental Requirements

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, stand and walk to communicate and listen effectively. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and may operate a forklift or electronic pallet jack. The work environment includes moving mechanical parts, risk of electrical shock, wet or humid conditions, high or precarious places, outdoor conditions and loud noise. Dust and odor may be present.
