Job summary

Connect Housing Blocks in Columbus, OH, is seeking a hands-on Maintenance Technician to keep our production facility, equipment, and grounds running smoothly. This role focuses on building systems, material handling equipment, and general upkeep across the plant.

We value solid mechanical aptitude, 4+ years in facilities maintenance, and the ability to handle a punch list. Certification for cranes/forklifts is a plus or willingness to obtain.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of facilities or building maintenance experience.
• Strong troubleshooting skills for building systems.
• Comfortable working on cranes, forklifts; certification preferred or willingness to obtain.
• Basic electrical, plumbing, and carpentry skills.
• Physically active and dependable; capable of following a punch list.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine inspections, preventive maintenance, and repairs on building systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, doors/dock equipment).
• Maintain and troubleshoot overhead cranes, forklifts, and other material handling equipment.
• Respond to maintenance requests from management and prioritize repairs to minimize downtime.
• Conduct regular facility walkthroughs to identify safety hazards.
• Handle general repairs—carpentry, painting, basic electrical/plumbing, equipment upkeep.
• Keep common areas, storage areas, and mechanical rooms clean and organized.
• Handle snow removal and grounds upkeep as seasons require.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Position Overview

We are seeking a hands‑on Maintenance Technician to keep our production facility, equipment, and grounds running smoothly. This role is less about high‑end automation and more about being the go‑to person for building systems, material handling equipment, and general upkeep across the plant.

What You’ll Do

• Perform routine inspections, preventive maintenance, and repairs on building systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, doors/dock equipment, etc.)
• Maintain and troubleshoot overhead cranes, forklifts, and other material handling equipment
• Respond to maintenance requests from management and prioritize repairs to minimize downtime

Equipment You’ll Work On

What We’re Looking For

• 4+ years of facilities or building maintenance experience
• Solid mechanical aptitude and general troubleshooting ability
• Comfortable working on cranes, forklifts, and other powered equipment (certification a plus, or willingness to get certified)
• Basic electrical, plumbing, and carpentry skills
• Self‑driven and dependable — someone who can be handed a punch list and just get it done

Preferred Experience

• Overhead crane or forklift maintenance
• HVAC or building systems experience
• Manufacturing or industrial facility background

Education & Experience

• High School Diploma or GED required
• Technical/trade certification a plus but not required
• 4+ years of facilities maintenance or related experience
• Exposure to moving machinery, noise, and varying temperatures
• Physically active role — standing, walking, lifting, climbing as needed
