Job summary

Closure Systems International Inc. (CSI) seeks an experienced maintenance technician for our Erie, PA plant. The role requires hands-on troubleshooting of manufacturing and automation systems, plus preventive and corrective maintenance of facility infrastructure.

You will work with electricians and operate in a safety-first environment on D-shift (nights). Responsibilities include repairing pumps, valves, hydraulics and plastics processing equipment, fabricating parts, and documenting changes.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Read, write and speak English.
  • 2+ years of industrial maintenance experience.
  • Experience with compression molding equipment desirable.
  • Must have tools for industrial maintenance.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshooting and repair of manufacturing, support equipment, and automation systems.
  • Operate, monitor, and repair infrastructure systems such as compressed air, cooling water, vacuum, and carton systems.
  • Rebuild components for reuse; fabricate parts with shop tools.
  • Install equipment and perform building infrastructure repairs.
  • Assist electricians with electrical/electronic controls repairs.
  • Document changes to equipment accurately.
  • Train team members on maintenance practices and safety.

Job Location: Erie Plant - Erie, PA 16502

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Safety oriented for self and all team members safety
  • Communicates with production supervisors and other team members frequently for needs of machine repair
  • Troubleshooting and repair of all manufacturing, support equipment, and automation systems
  • Operation, monitoring, and troubleshooting/repair of all auxiliary infrastructure systems such as compressed air, cooling water, vacuum, and carton systems
  • Identifies, determines, and rebuilds components such as pumps, valves, solenoids, vacuum systems for reuse
  • Fabrication of machine parts through use of maintenance shop tools
  • Project work for installation of equipment, repairs/improvements to building infrastructure, and other facility areas
  • Supports and works with electricians to perform electrical and/or electronic controls repairs as necessary
  • Set up inspection camera’s using quality control guidelines
  • Make suggestions/improvements to increase effectiveness of operations in the plant
  • Perform preventive and corrective work as directed, notably on support equipment
  • Responsible for proper documentation of all/any changes made to equipment
  • Continuously trains and learns new subject areas to improve own skillset
  • Training of team members on equipment maintenance practices, operation, and safe work practices
  • Other duties as assigned

Shift: D Crew (nights) 12 hour shifts

Educational and Other Skill Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED equivalency
  • Read, write and speak English
  • Complete pre-employment mechanical aptitude test
  • Complete in house CEW (certified electrical worker) training within 1 year of hire date
  • Demonstrated safety-first focus
  • 2+ years of industrial maintenance or similar experience required
  • Prior plastics experience desirable, specifically with experience in operation and maintenance of compression molding equipment
  • Must have tools required for industrial maintenance, with exception of specialty, power tools, and machine shop tools
  • Self-motivated, accountable, and able to communicate with team members
  • Must be able to work at heights (Passing fall protection and mobile elevated work platform training required)
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs and work in different positions throughout shift
  • Cross functionally trained in mechanical and electrical areas with 5+ years of industrial maintenance
  • Knowledge of manufacturing equipment including hydraulics, pneumatics, and plastic processing equipment
  • Knowledge of utility system components including compressed air systems, cooling water systems, vacuum systems, etc.
  • Knowledge of plant electrical systems, including NFPA 70e qualifications
  • Knowledge of PLC controls/electronics for automation equipment
  • Qualification to use maintenance shop tools to fabricate parts including the use of vertical mill/drill presses, brake/shear, and MIG/TIG welders
  • Vocational education and/or training in machine repair, industrial electricity, or equivalent programs from an accredited school
