Job summary

Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta is seeking a Facilities Maintenance Technician to provide safe and efficient maintenance for patient care environments. You will operate and drive company vehicles, perform planned and general maintenance on HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems, and safeguard equipment in a hospital setting.

The role requires at least 3 years of trade experience, relevant certifications, and the ability to read blueprints.

Qualifications

  • 3 years of trade experience in electricity, plumbing, HVAC, boilers, or related systems.
  • HVAC Certification and Universal Refrigeration Certification preferred.
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Certification: Valid Georgia driver's license and insurable driving record.

Responsibilities

  • Operating and driving Children’s vehicles as needed to vendors or sites based on operational needs.
  • Performs planned and general maintenance functions on systems and equipment, including inspecting, testing, maintaining, installing, and repairing.
  • Maintains accurate records/logs of all work/rounds in mechanical rooms and understands major building systems operations.
  • Uses hand, diagnostic, and power tools relating to mechanical equipment with safe handling.
  • Keeps tools, equipment, and mechanical rooms clean, safe, and organized.
  • Assists Engineering Coordinator in purchasing parts, supplies, and materials per procedures.
  • Meets all in-service requirements and complies with safety standards.

Job Description

Provides effective and efficient maintenance, engineering, and mechanical system support. Ensures, within all regulatory agency requirements, that buildings, equipment, and grounds (where applicable) are maintained in a safe and aesthetically pleasing condition to provide an appropriate environment for the wellbeing of patients, visitors, and staff. Proactively supports efforts that ensure delivery of safe patient care and services and promote a safe environment at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta.

  • Experience 3 years of experience in trade work such as electricity, plumbing, heating/ventilation/air conditioning, refrigeration, boilers, and locksmith or HVAC certification from an accredited program if no prior work experience
  • Preferred Qualifications HVAC Certification Universal Refrigeration Certification preferred
  • Education High school diploma or equivalent
  • Certification Summary Valid Georgia driver's license and insurable driving record
  • Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Ability to read blueprints and schematics Must be knowledgeable of systems and equipment found in the healthcare facility and all codes governing the inspections, testing, and operation of the equipment Good communication and interpersonal skills Must be able to work without direct supervision Ability to drive and operate Children’s vehicles
Job Responsibilities
  • Responsible for operating and driving Children’s vehicles throughout the organization as needed and to specified vendors or sites based on operational needs.
  • Performs planned and general maintenance functions on systems and equipment, including inspecting, testing, maintaining, installing, and repairing.
  • Maintains accurate, legible records/logs of all work/rounds made in mechanical rooms and has a thorough knowledge of the major building systems operations and valve locations.
  • Uses hand, diagnostic, and power tools relating to the physical plant equipment, observing proper onsite handling.
  • Keeps tools, equipment, and mechanical rooms in safe, clean, and organized working condition.
  • Assists Engineering Coordinator in purchasing parts, supplies, and materials necessary for proper maintenance of the systems and equipment in accordance with departmental procedures.
  • Meets all in-service requirements, complies with all system policies and procedures, and understands and complies with infection control, safety, and Occupational Safety and Health Administration standards.
