Job summary

BlueScope Recycling seeks a Maintenance Technician III to maintain and service the plant and mobile equipment at our Mansfield, OH site. The role works independently within established procedures and contributes to reliable operation of recycling facilities.

The job requires hands-on mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic skills, safety awareness, and the ability to document maintenance activities using a CMMS. Excellent communication and teamwork are essential.

Qualifications

• 3–5+ years of related maintenance experience; or 2+ years with additional specialized training and/or certification.
• Requires a high school diploma.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Conduct periodic safety and maintenance inspections to evaluate replacement equipment and identify wear and damage.
• Use technical diagrams, blueprints, and schematics to install, troubleshoot, calibrate, and repair equipment, engines, and compressors.
• Order parts and coordinate with service providers to complete maintenance tasks.
• Perform preventative maintenance and routine repairs, inspect equipment for wear and damage, and identify replacement needs.
• Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic equipment (loaders, shrears, grapple, skid steers, forklifts, shredder, conveyors, PLCs).
• Set up and break down machinery as needed.
• Record activities in CMMS/work order systems.
• Follow safety procedures for hazardous materials handling.

BlueScope Recycling is a full-service, ferrous scrap metal recycler with processing facilities in Waterloo, IN, Delta, OH, and Mansfield, OH. BlueScope Recycling buys scrap from industrial generators, wholesale suppliers, and the general public, focusing on delivering the highest level of service.

Summary

A Maintenance Technician III works independently within established procedures associated with the specific job function and has gained proficiency in multiple competencies relevant to the job. The Maintenance Technician III maintains and services the plant and mobile equipment in the scrap yard.

Duties And Responsibilities

• Conducts periodic safety and maintenance inspections to evaluate replacement equipment and identify wear and damage.
• Uses technical diagrams, blueprints, and schematics to install, troubleshoot, calibrate, and repair equipment, engines, and compressors.
• Order parts needed for replacement and coordinate with service providers to complete maintenance tasks.
• Performs preventative maintenance and routine repairs, conducts periodic safety and maintenance inspections to evaluate equipment for replacement, and identifies wear and damage.
• Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair complex mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic equipment; primarily loaders, shears, grapple, skid steers, forklifts, tractor/trailer, shredder, conveyor systems, hydraulic systems, PLC’s. Welds, grinding, weld set-up, and torching.
• Set up and break down machinery as needed.
• Uses a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) or work order system to track and document activities.
• Follows established safety procedures and regulations for hazardous materials handling.

Required Qualifications

• 3-5+ years of related experience or may need 2+ years’ experience with additional specialized training and/or certification.
• Requires a high school diploma.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Physical Requirements

• Sit, stand, walk, and stoop for long periods of time
• Able to climb in/on mobile equipment
• Exposure to physical operations in scrap recycling facilities, including walking/climbing in active industrial yards with uneven surfaces in inclement weather
