Job summary

BlueScope Recycling and Materials LLC is seeking a Maintenance Technician III to work independently within established procedures by maintaining plant and mobile equipment across our scrap yard facilities. Responsibilities include safety inspections, troubleshooting, and coordinating parts with service providers to ensure reliable operations.

The role requires 3–5+ years in maintenance, a high school diploma, and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

• 3–5+ years of related experience in maintenance.
• High school diploma is required.

Responsibilities

• Conducts periodic safety and maintenance inspections and evaluates equipment for replacement.
• Uses technical diagrams, blueprints, and schematics to install, troubleshoot, calibrate, and repair equipment.
• Orders parts and coordinates with service providers to complete maintenance tasks.
• Performs preventative maintenance and routine repairs; identifies wear and damage.
• Troubleshoots and repairs mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic equipment ( loaders, shears, grapples, forklifts, conveyors, PLCs ).
• Welds, grinds, sets up, and torches as needed; sets up/breaks down machinery.
• Uses CMMS/work order system to document activities and track work.

BlueScope Recycling buys scrap from industrial generators, wholesale suppliers, and the general public, focusing on delivering the highest level of service.Summary: A Maintenance Technician III works independently within established procedures associated with the specific job function and has gained proficiency in multiple competencies relevant to the job. The Maintenance Technician III maintains and services the plant and mobile equipment in the scrap yard.Duties and Responsibilities:Conducts periodic safety and maintenance inspections to evaluate replacement equipment and identify wear and damage.Uses technical diagrams, blueprints, and schematics to install, troubleshoot, calibrate, and repair equipment, engines, and compressors.Order parts needed for replacement and coordinate with service providers to complete maintenance tasks.Performs preventative maintenance and routine repairs, conducts periodic safety and maintenance inspections to evaluate equipment for replacement, and identifies wear and damage.Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair complex mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic equipment; primarily loaders, shears, grapple, skid steers, forklifts, tractor/trailer, shredder, conveyor systems, hydraulic systems, PLC’s.
