Job summary

Cornerstone Building Brands in Houston, TX is seeking an entry level Maintenance Technician I to support electrical generation, distribution and utilization in our manufacturing facility. You will assist senior technicians with installations, repairs and preventive maintenance, with emphasis on safety and quality.

Applicants should have a high school diploma and at least 2 years in a maintenance role, be able to read blueprints and electrical schematics, and be comfortable using hand and power

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of 2 years related maintenance experience.
• Able to read blueprints and electrical schematics.
• Skilled with hand and power tools.
• Able to read measuring devices (tape, protractor, micrometer).

Responsibilities

• Follow safety rules in a manufacturing environment.
• Assist with repairing and installing electrical equipment including generators, transformers, switchboards, controllers, circuit breakers, motors, heating units, and conduit systems.
• Use welding equipment for layout and fittings.
• Diagnose and correct electrical system faults and read schematics.
• Perform preventive maintenance inspections and take corrective action.
• Maintain buildings and notify management of major repairs.
• Support continuous improvement in the work area.

Job Description

Base pay starts at $25.00 per hour

Day Shift hours: 6:00AM - 2:30PM, with potential for overtime

The Maintenance Technician I is an entry level helper with some technical schooling completed or minimum experience in maintenance. They help assist Level II and III technicians in equipment installations, repairs, or modifications related to the generation, distribution, or utilization of electric energy within the manufacturing facility.

• Understands and follows all safety rules and precautions necessary for working in and around a manufacturing environment.
• Assists with repairing and installing various electrical equipment including generators, transformers, switchboards, controllers, circuit breakers, motors, heating units, and conduit systems. Works with blueprints drawings, layouts, verbal instructions and other specifications.
• Uses various welding equipment (arc, acetylene, brazing, flame cutting) for lay out and fitting, including making jigs and fixtures.
• Diagnoses and corrects trouble in the electrical system or equipment, applying standard computations related to load requirements of wiring or electrical equipment.
• Performs visual and mechanical inspections to confirm machinery is in good condition, ensuring the production of finished quality products according to order specifications.
• Follows the preventive maintenance program as established by the company and conducts equipment inspections, taking preventive action when necessary.
• Maintains buildings, performing minor repairs.
• Notifies management regarding the need for major repairs or additions to lighting, heating, and ventilating equipment.
• Contributes to continuous improvement efforts in work area.
• May be assigned additional projects or duties as designated by Team Leader.
• Must be able to work with CMMS-Computerized Maintenance Management System

Qualifications

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

• High School Diploma or recognized equivalent.
• Minimum of (2) two years related work experience in a maintenance mechanic function, or equivalent related experience.
• Must demonstrate proficiency in resolving unexpected events and circumstance.
• Hand and Power tools
• Shop Machine tools
• Testing equipment
• Ability to read different measuring devices (i.e. tape measure, protractor, micrometer).
• Must be able to read blueprints and electrical schematics

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Standing, walking, lifting 50 lbs. or more, pulling, pushing, carrying, grasping, reaching, stooping, crouching, near acuity,
• Frequently exposed to work near moving mechanical parts

This is a position with potential overtime. The shifts are 8 hours, 10 hours, and 12 hours long depending on work orders for the day and season of the year.
