Job summary

Kreher Family Farms is seeking a Maintenance Technician II to support electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems across our farm facilities. The role is full-time, approx.

40+ hours per week, with a start time around 7:00 AM, and operates within a cohesive team to keep barns and equipment running smoothly. Qualified candidates have at least 3 years in maintenance, a high school diploma or GED, and may hold an associate or technical bachelor’s degree.

Qualifications

• Minimum of a High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Associates or bachelor's degree in related technical field is a plus.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in the maintenance field or related area.

Responsibilities

• Complete maintenance tasks assigned by the manager, or through the Maintenance Activity App.
• Respond to maintenance requests with urgency to service equipment repairs.
• Visually inspect equipment to prevent future injuries.
• Perform preventative maintenance and document work completed to the manager.
• Maintain shop area and equipment used for repairs.
• Look for opportunities to eliminate re-work and inform manager of hazards.
• Ensure tasks are prioritized and completed efficiently and safely.
• Cross-train within department and assist team members as needed.

*This role is specific to the Compost Dept.*

Our Maintenance positions support the health and well-being of our hens by monitoring, enhancing, fixing, and replacing all things that are electrical and mechanical around the farm. Join a cohesive team that works together every day to keep our farms running smoothly!

This position uses functional knowledge of operational principles for mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic devices. Experience in repairing equipment and facilities is required! Having strength in a specific area of skill is a plus! This position performs work both inside the barns and outside on farm grounds. Being bilingual is a plus, Spanish/ English, but is not required.

Full-time position at 40 plus hours/week, start time around 7:00 AM.

The Maintenance Technician II is the maintenance position for those who are familiar with Kreher facilities, machinery and equipment, and who have strong enough maintenance experience to conduct their work with limited supervision. They are responsible for maintaining and repairing facilities and equipment according to instructions and pre-established guidelines, while ensuring safety, efficiency, and productivity within the individual departments. The Maintenance Technician II may also train Maintenance Technician I employees.

JOB RESPONSIBILTIES

Strategic and tactical work for which this position is accountable:

It is the responsibility of theMaintenance Technician IItowork in a limited supervised manner, to:

• Complete maintenance tasks assigned by the manager, or through the Maintenance Activity App.
• Use experience and judgement to respond to maintenance requests for equipment repairs ensuring maintenance is provided with a sense of urgency throughout the farm.
• Visually inspect equipment to avoid problems that may cause future injury to equipment operators.
• Perform preventative maintenance tasks on equipment that is being repaired, and communicate work completed to manager.
• Accurately complete required documentation.
• Maintain shop area and equipment used for repairs.
• Look for opportunities to eliminate re-work, waste, etc., and inform manager of potential hazards.
• Ensure personal and departmental job tasks and work orders are prioritized and completed efficiently and within the required time.
• Meet or exceed Kreher standards in the tasks performed for the department without sacrificing quality or personal safety.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area to avoid accidents.
• Assist Maintenance Manager or Director as requested.
• Maintain two-way communication with manager and team members.
• Act as a team player (supports and encourages co-workers), and share knowledge with other Maintenance Technicians to help troubleshoot problems.
• Continuously develop knowledge and skills of best practices for equipment repairs and maintenance.
• Show flexibility; cross trains within department, move to different areas, etc. as needed.
• Exude the Kreher Shared Values while working on daily tasks.
• Comply with Kreher's Policies and Code of Conduct, as well as federal and state laws.
• Look for opportunities to improve safety, prevent accidents, and help make Kreher Family Farms a safe place to work.
• Have attendance and punctuality reflect a dedicated and reliable commitment to serving the customer, including on call 24/7 via phone.
• Perform other job duties as assigned.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Capabilities and traits essential to perform satisfactorily

• General knowledge of operational principles of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic devices as well as basic carpentry.
• General skills to repair or assist in repairing equipment and facilities on the farm.
• Welding skills are a plus.
• Ability to exercise a degree of creativity in problem solving, and ability to work independently.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

• Minimum of a High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Associates or bachelor's degree in related technical field is a plus.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in the maintenance field or related area.
