Job description

Transdev in Baltimore, MD (BWI Airport Shuttle) is seeking a B-Level Diesel Technician to bolster our team. This role demands expertise in diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining diesel and gasoline engines across various vehicles and equipment. As a Diesel Technician, you'll play a crucial role in ensuring safety, efficiency, and longevity for our vehicles.

Transdev is proud to offer:

  • $39.97 - $43.23 (Union Collective Bargaining Agreement Payscale). Starting pay $39.97 with progression to $43.23 over 3 years.

Position Subject to Collective Bargaining Agreement:

  • Paid Sick Leave: 8 hrs monthly full-time employees/ 5 hrs monthly part-time employees; medical, dental & vision after 90 calendar days of employment for full-time employees, life insurance, 401k retirement benefits, and company holidays.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform Preventative maintenance, repairs and replacements on diesel engines, ensuring optimal functionality.
  • Perform Preventative Maintenance, repairs and replacements on gasoline engines, ensuring optimal functionality.
  • Assist fellow technicians in advanced diagnostic and repair tasks, contributing to efficient workflow.
  • Execute routine maintenance tasks to prevent breakdowns and optimize diesel and gasoline engine performance.
  • Lead diagnostic tests to accurately identify complex issues and determine comprehensive repair strategies for diesel and gasoline engines.
  • Perform advanced troubleshooting and repair tasks on diesel and gasoline engines, including overhauling and rebuilding components to required specifications.
  • Other duties as required.

Qualifications:

  • 3 years of experience as a Diesel Mechanic.
  • Minimum CDL B with Airbrake Certification
  • ASE certifications required within 90 days of start date; H4 Brakes & H8 PMI ASE certification program provided
  • Mechanic’s Tool Set
  • Must be able to work shifts or flexible work schedules as needed.
  • Subject to DOT drug testing and physical if applicable. DOT Regulation 49 CFR Part 40 does not authorize the use of Schedule I drugs, including cannabis, for any reason.

Physical Requirements:

  • Work outside in varying temperature, weather, and humidity conditions-100% of the job is performed outside, work alone and in remote locations.
  • Sit for extended periods (up to 6–8 hours per day); frequently walk for long distances and on possible sloped ground or slippery and uneven surfaces
  • Push and pull objects up to 100 pounds, occasionally throughout the workday; lift material weighing up to 50 lbs. with or without assistance; occasionally bend, kneel, or crouch to files or equipment stored at ground level
  • Withstand heavy traffic areas while performing the duties of the job; tolerate exposure to considerable amounts of dust, vehicle fumes and noise.
