Job summary

A1 Garage Door is seeking a Maintenance Technician to perform Annual Maintenance Club Tune Ups and comprehensive garage door inspections across your market. Training is provided; prior garage door experience isn’t required.

You will handle callbacks, educate customers on findings, and assist with warehouse inventory and load-outs for techs and installers. Competitive benefits and growth opportunities accompany this role.

Responsibilities

  • Handle Annual Maintenance Club Tune Ups.

  • Address call-backs when issues aren’t resolved on first visit.
  • Educate customers on door findings and recommended actions.
  • Receive POs for warehouse and update inventory counts.
  • Assist Area Manager or Market Lead with load outs for techs/installers.
  • Maintain accurate inventory counts in the warehouse.

As a Maintenance Technician, you will be responsible for handling our Annual Maintenance Club Tune Ups. Our team will train you on everything you need to know to thrive in your very own market. No previous experience with garage doors required, we got you!

You Shouldn’t Apply If:

  • You are not weather resistant (hot/cold depending on geography)

  • You are not likely to follow what you were taught in class and apply it with gusto

The Job:
  • Handling our Annual Maintenance Club Tune Ups

  • Complete garage door Inspections, following a check list

  • Handling call back visits when we don’t get it right the first time

  • Focus on turning negative experiences into positive experiences

  • Educate customer on their door and findings from the inspection

  • Receiving POs for the warehouse and updating inventory with the exact counts

  • Assisting the Area Manager or Market Lead with load outs for techs and installers

  • Maintaining physical counts in warehouse and updating Inventory

Basic Requirements:
  • Be nice! I know, we shouldn’t have to say that, but we mean it.

  • Min 21 years old

  • Able to bend, climb, kneel and stand for long periods

  • Physically able to lift 75lbs

  • Valid driver’s license for at least 3 years

  • Willingness to undergo a pre-employment drug test (not including THC), criminal background checkand driving record verification

  • Knowledge of basic software such as navigation apps, Google etc as well as tablet and computer use

  • Basic knowledge of hand tools

  • GED or HS diploma not required, however reading skills as well as basic math skills (measurements, payments) are required.

  • Professional appearance

  • Employment requires current eligibility to legally work in the United States

The Journey of a Maintenance Technician:
  • Our apprenticeship is a 4 week training program at the A1 Training Academy in Phoenix, AZ.

  • A1 covers flights and accommodations for the duration of your training in Phoenix. (You will typically work 45-50 hours a week while an apprentice and qualify for overtime for hours over 40 in a week.)

  • Once you complete training, you will receive a $1,000 bonus, and graduate to a junior maintenance technician. You will perform your duties in and around your market. Boom!

Interview Process:

Our interview process is not long, but it’s thorough. We want to make sure that each person who joins the team is the right fit for A1. And that we are the right fit for you!

  • After we review your application, you will be contacted for an interview with a recruiter if we want to know more. Plan on up to minutes.

  • Next step is an interview with the Area manager. Plan on approximately 60 minutes.

  • Next step is when the fun begins: you will be invited to ride along with one of our technicians so you can see what life at A1 is really like. Plan on a full day.
