Job summary

A1 Garage Door Service is hiring an Installer to perform residential garage door installations, removals, and upgrades. You will learn the trade through their structured apprenticeship, receive paid training in Phoenix, and progress to a junior installer after completion.

Compensation starts at $36.75 per hour with potential commission on additional sales/services. Expect steady work, a company vehicle, and comprehensive benefits as you grow with the team.

Qualifications

• Must be 21 years old or older.

Responsibilities

• Install new garage doors for residential customers.
• Remove existing door and mechanical parts.
• Replace worn or broken door parts using tools.
• Assemble mechanical parts.
• Install springs, sections, slats, and hardware.
• Run wiring to connect equipment.
• Lubricate and test mechanical parts for proper functioning.
• Educate customers on upgraded parts and services and ensure satisfaction.
• Document activities related to installations.

The Job

Basic Requirements

• Be nice! I know, we shouldn’t have to say that, but we mean it

• 21 years old min

• Able to bend, climb, kneel and stand for long periods

• Physically able to lift 75lbs, lift garage door panels above head

• Able to stand on ladder

• Knowledge of hand tools(Power drill, hammer, saw etc.)

• Valid driver’s license for at least 3 years with a clean driving record

• Knowledge of basic software such as navigation apps, Google etc. as well as tablet and computer use

• GED or HS diploma not required, however reading skills as well as basic math skills (measurements, payments) are required

• Professional & approachable appearance

• Employment requires current eligibility to legally work in the United States

The Journey of an Installer

• Our apprenticeship is a 4 week training program at the A1 Training Academy in Phoenix, AZ.

• We cover flights and accommodations for the duration of your training in Phoenix. (All apprenticeship/training weeks are paid) You will typically work 45-50 hours a week while an apprentice and qualify for overtime for hours over 40 in a week.

• Once you complete training, you will receive a one thousand dollar bonus, and graduate to a junior installer. You will perform your duties in and around your market. Boom!

Our interview process is not long, but it’s thorough. We want to make sure that each person who joins the team is the right fit. And that we are the right fit for you!

1. After we review your application, you will be contacted for an interview with a recruiter if we want to know more. Plan on up to 30 minutes.

1. Next step is an interview with the Area manager. Plan on approximately 60 minutes.

1. Next step is when the fun begins: you will be invited to ride along with one of our technicians so you can see what life at A1 is really like. Plan on a full day.
