Job summary

Conifer Realty is seeking a Maintenance Technician for affordable housing communities in Fort Washington, MD. You will perform routine and preventative maintenance to keep units safe and comfortable, working Monday–Friday with on-call rotation.

Ideal candidates have 2+ years in apartment or facilities maintenance, a high school diploma or GED, ability to lift up to 100 lbs, and dependable transportation. Bilingual Spanish/English is a plus.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of apartment, residential, or facilities maintenance experience (painting, drywall, plumbing, electrical, flooring; HVAC experience a plus)
• A high school diploma or GED
• Ability to lift 50 lbs regularly and up to 100 lbs occasionally
• Reliable transportation and flexibility to cover overtime or nearby communities when needed
• Basic computer or mobile-app skills for work orders, timekeeping, and training (we’ll train you!)
• Strong communication and customer-service skills
• Bilingual (Spanish/English) skills, a plus that helps connect with our residents

Responsibilities

• Perform routine and preventative maintenance, including painting, drywall, carpentry, plumbing, electrical, and cleaning
• Care for the grounds, maintain curb appeal through landscaping, snow/ice removal, and seasonal upkeep
• Respond with urgency—complete work orders promptly and rotate for emergency on-call coverage (respond within 30 minutes)
• Prioritize quality & compliance—follow all safety, property, and inspection standards with precision
• Be part of a team that cares—work closely with peers and residents, showing empathy and pride in every repair
