Job summary

Fabcon in Selkirk, NY is seeking a Maintenance Technician to maintain, troubleshoot, repair, and improve plant equipment and facilities for efficient precast concrete production. The role supports uptime and safety with proactive maintenance and continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; technical training or a two-year degree preferred.
• Two to five years of maintenance experience in manufacturing or heavy-industrial environments preferred.
• Working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
• Ability to read and interpret manuals, schematics, blueprints, and equipment docs.
• Basic computer skills; CMMS/IFS experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on plant equipment, machinery, vehicles, and facility systems.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic issues to minimize downtime.
• Maintain and repair mixers, conveyors, augers, cranes, batching systems, molds, and other equipment.
• Weld, fabricate, cut, and assemble equipment; perform minor electrical repairs.
• Complete work orders and document maintenance activities and parts usage in CMMS/IFS.
• Follow safety procedures and assist with installation and relocation of equipment.
• Operate heavy equipment and maintain clean, safe maintenance areas.

Maintenance Technician – Selkirk, New York

Full Time, Shift: 7:00 am Start Time Monday – Friday

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and improving plant equipment and facilities to support safe, efficient precast concrete manufacturing operations. This role ensures equipment reliability, minimizes downtime, and supports production through proactive maintenance and continuous improvement activities.

§ Union Increases at 120 Days and One year, totaling $3 to $4 / hour

Salary Range: $24 to $31.50/hour

Key Responsibilities

• Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on plant equipment, machinery, vehicles, and facility systems.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic issues to minimize equipment downtime.
• Maintain and repair mixers, conveyors, augers, cranes, batching systems, molds, hydraulic systems, forklifts, yard tractors, aerial lifts, skid steers, and wheel loaders.
• Perform welding, fabrication, cutting, equipment assembly and disassembly, and minor electrical repairs.
• Conduct routine equipment inspections and respond promptly to production breakdowns.
• Assist with the installation, modification, and relocation of equipment and plant infrastructure.
• Complete work orders and accurately document maintenance activities and parts usage in CMMS/IFS.
• Follow lockout/tagout, hot-work permit, confined-space, environmental, and other required safety procedures.
• Maintain safe, clean, and organized maintenance and work areas while supporting equipment reliability and continuous improvement.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required; technical training or a two-year technical degree preferred.
• Two to five years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing, construction-materials, or heavy-industrial environment preferred.
• Working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems, including conveyors, augers, industrial equipment, and wheeled vehicles.
• Welding and fabrication experience using SMAW, GMAW, plasma torch, and oxy-acetylene cutting equipment preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, parts diagrams, blueprints, and equipment documentation.
• Ability to safely operate forklifts, skid steers, aerial lifts, cranes, yard tractors, and other heavy equipment.
• Basic computer skills required; experience using CMMS/IFS preferred.
• Ability to work well with others and maintain professional conduct.
• Ability to work overtime when required.
