Job summary

Bob Evans Farms, Inc. is seeking a maintenance technician to perform mechanical and electrical repairs on production equipment. The role involves troubleshooting, wiring, PLCs, and robotics, with a strong emphasis on safety and reliability across the facility.

Your duties include maintaining and repairing production equipment, reading blueprints, and supporting continuous improvement with operators and peers. OSHA rules and PPE are applied daily in a busy manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or two-year technical certificate in Mechanics and Electronics; two years maintenance experience preferred.
• Knowledge of fluid power, industrial electricity, mechanical components, PLCs, welding, robotics and rigging.
• Understanding OSHA and Company safety regulations (LOTO, PPE).
• Basic plumbing and HVAC knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair all production equipment in assigned area under supervision.
• Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair all production equipment and supporting infrastructure including mechanical/electrical systems, PLCs, robotics, hydraulics and pneumatics.
• Dismantle machinery and replace defective electrical or mechanical parts and test functionality.
• Inspect completed work for conformance with local safety codes and company standards.
• Document all work orders and maintain accurate parts inventories.
• Collaborate with production operators to identify process improvements where possible.

Responsibilities

To perform a variety of mechanical maintenance repairs. Repairs, installs, replace and test electrical circuits, refrigeration and equipment. Uses hand tools and testing instruments. Dismantles machinery and replaces defective electrical or mechanical parts. Performs all work in accordance with established safety procedures. Inspects completed work for conformance with requirements of local building and safety codes.

Duties And Responsibilities

• Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair all production equipment in assigned area under the guidance of the Maintenance Team Lead or Supervisor.
• Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair all production equipment and supporting infrastructure including: Mechanical troubleshooting and repair, Industrial electrical / electronic troubleshooting and repair, PLCs/ Instrumentation, robotics, plumbing, hydraulics an pneumatics, HVAC/Steam, welding and fabrication, rigging and heavy materials handling, blueprints and schematics.
• Maintain open, accurate communication with other maintenance employees as well as production management.
• Accurately complete all assigned work orders in a timely manner and document all relevant information describing the completion of the work order.
• Provide all information necessary to maintain proper parts inventories.
• Work with production operators to identify process improvements wherever possible.
• Perform all work in a safe manner following all Company safety policies and procedures.
• Assist with other duties and responsibilities as needed.

Qualifications

EDUCATION, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Required

• A combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above. Associate degree (A.S., A.A.) or two-year technical certificate in Mechanics and Electronics or a related field and two years of mechanical and electrical maintenance is preferred. Knowledge of basic fluid power, industrial electricity, mechanical components, PLCs, welding, machining, robotics and rigging. Also desired is knowledge of preventative maintenance practices, plant operations and government safety regulations.
• Working knowledge of electronics including motor controllers, low voltage electrical systems, proximity switches, photo-eyes, and variable frequency drives.
• Working fundamentals of troubleshooting PLC’s.
• Basic understanding of schematics and blue prints.
• Thoroughly understand and follow all OSHA and Company regulations as they relate to the maintenance field (LOTO, CSE, PPE, etc.).
• Basic plumbing and HVAC knowledge.
• Requires a good understanding of hydraulic/pneumatic equipment.
• Requires judgment to make decisions regarding sequence of maintenance operations to be performed within the limits of standard practice.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
• Ability to use thinking and reasoning to solve a problem.
• Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
