Job summary

Phoenix House of New York | Long Island is seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician to repair and maintain our facility infrastructure. You will inspect machinery, install and repair electrical components, and ensure safety and reliability across all spaces.

  • Keeps facilities in compliance with all guidelines and in good appearance.
  • Completes general repairs in all facilities.
  • Performs visual walk through of facility upon arrival and does additional work as necessary.
  • Maintains and keeps tools in good working order.
  • Keeps an accurate inventory of tools.
  • Keeps maintenance areas neat and orderly.
  • Inspects and tests machinery and equipment as necessary.
  • Lays out, assembles, installs, and maintains pipe systems and related equipment.

You will repair and maintain the physical structure of the facility, visually inspect and test machinery and equipment as necessary and install and repair electrical apparatus, such as transformers and wiring, and electrical and electronic components of machinery and equipment.

You Will Have Responsibilities Including But Not Limited To
  • Keeps facilities in compliance with all guidelines and in good appearance.
  • Completes general repairs in all facilities.
  • Upon receipt of work orders performs visual walk through of facility upon arrival and does additional work, if necessary.
  • Maintains and keeps tools in good working order.
  • Keeps an accurate inventory of tools.
  • Keeps maintenance areas neat and orderly.
  • Checks fuel oil levels.
  • Visually inspects and tests machinery and equipment as necessary.
  • Dismantles defective machines and equipment and installs new or repaired parts.
  • Cleans and lubricates shafts, bearings, gears, and other parts of machinery.
  • Assists in maintaining an adequate inventory of on-hand supplies.
  • Installs and repairs electrical apparatus, such as transformers and wiring, and electrical and electronic components of machinery and equipment.
  • Lays out, assembles, installs, and maintains pipe systems and related hydraulic and pneumatic equipment, and repairs and replaces gauges, valves, pressure regulators, and related equipment.
Qualifications
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE
  • Minimum of one years related experience and/or training in general maintenance.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
  • This job regularly works in an indoor office environment and in outside weather conditions. The employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts and in high, precarious places and is occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals, risk of electrical shock, and vibration.
