Job summary

Phoenix House of New York is seeking a Maintenance Technician to join our Hauppauge facility on a per diem basis. You will repair and maintain the physical structure, inspect machinery, and install/repair electrical components to keep operations running smoothly.

In this role you’ll work mornings, follow safety guidelines, and contribute to a clean, well‑maintained environment. We offer comprehensive employer-paid medical insurance for eligible staff and dependents along with a range of benefits.

Qualifications

• High School or GED equivalent required.

Responsibilities

• Keeps facilities in compliance with guidelines and in good appearance.
• Completes general repairs in all facilities.
• Upon receipt of work orders, performs visual walk-through and additional tasks as necessary.
• Maintains and keeps tools in good working order.
• Keeps an accurate inventory of tools.
• Keeps maintenance areas neat and orderly.
• Checks fuel oil levels.
• Visually inspects and tests machinery and equipment.
• Dismantles defective machines and equipment and installs repaired parts.
• Cleans and lubricates shafts, bearings, gears, and other parts of machinery.
• Assists in maintaining an adequate inventory of on-hand supplies.
• Installs and repairs electrical apparatus and related components.
• Lays out, assembles, installs, and maintains pipe systems and hydraulic/pneumatic equipment.

QualificationsREQUIRED EXPERIENCE

• Minimum of one years related experience and/or training in general maintenance.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

This job regularly works in an indoor office environment and in outside weather conditions. The employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts and in high, precarious places and is occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals, risk of electrical shock, and vibration.
