Job summary

Magna Energy Storage Systems Group in Spartanburg, SC is seeking a maintenance technician with hands-on experience in production environments and a background in automation. Responsibilities include robot programming, pneumatic/hydraulic systems, and supporting plant upgrades to ensure safe, efficient operations.

The role requires welding experience and familiarity with SAP, Siemens S7/TIA Portal, and KUKA programming.

Qualifications

  • Degree or equivalent experience in a technical field and production maintenance.
  • Experience with welding steel is a plus.
  • Experience in automotive manufacturing is a plus.
  • Experience programming robots (KUKA preferred) and automation systems.

Responsibilities

  • Share responsibility for achieving production targets (OEE).
  • Perform preventive maintenance and optimize the production plant.
  • Procurement and management of spare parts.
  • Ensure compliance with legal standards.
  • Analyze weaknesses/risks and implement remedial actions.
  • Train and program robots.
  • Oversee assembly/installation of equipment and plant conversions.
  • Ensure occupational safety and health in area of activity.
  • Lead projects of various sizes for conversions/repairs.
  • Provide automation/plant engineering expertise and participate in FMEAs.

Group Summary: As part of Magna International, Magna Energy Storage Systems Group develops and manufactures innovative fuel tank systems and components for heavy-duty trucks and passenger cars, specializing in plug-in hybrids. At Magna, you will be part of an international, dynamic team committed to delivering high-quality products and shaping the future of mobility.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Shared responsibility for the achievement of production targets (OEE)
  • Performs preventive maintenance activities as well as optimization of the existing production plant
  • Procurement and management of spare parts
  • Ensuring compliance with all legal standards
  • Analysis of weak points and/or risks and initiation and implementation of appropriate remedial measures
  • Teaching and programming of robots
  • Monitoring and participation in the assembly and installation of new equipment and conversions of existing facilities
  • Responsibility for ensuring occupational safety and health protection in your area of activity
  • Independent implementation of projects of various sizes with regard to conversion and repair work
  • Technical competence in the area of automation technology and plant engineering
  • Participation in FMEAs
  • Trains other employees as needed
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
  • Degree in a technical field or 3-5 years of experience as a maintenance technician in a production environment; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience with welding steel a plus.
  • Experience in automotive manufacturing a plus.
  • Experience in programming robots (KUKA preferred)
  • Experienced in pneumatic and hydraulic systems
  • Programming knowledge (Siemens Simatic TIA Portal V15 and upgraded versions)
  • Relevant professional experience in the manufacturing industry preferably automotive
  • SAP knowledge
