Job summary

Thales North Kingstown seeks a Maintenance Technician to provide technical support for personalization and insertion machinery, ensuring safety, quality and productivity. You will diagnose and repair equipment, perform preventive maintenance, and support downtime reductions.

The role requires 1 year mechanical/electric technician experience, ability to read schematics, and willingness to travel to other Thales Perso sites. Schedule is 3rd shift with occasional overtime.

Qualifications

• Experience at least 1 year as mechanical or electric Technician.
• Proven technical grounding in mechanical and electrical disciplines.
• Must be computer literate with good communication, organizational and time management skills.
• Knowledge of Datacard / Bell & Howell / Pitney Bowes / Matica / Persomaster machinery and fault finding at board level is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintain personalization and insertion equipment to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient production; fault find and repair for optimum uptime; advise operators on machine operation and basic maintenance.
• Liaise with equipment suppliers for diagnostics, upgrades, and modifications; manage spare parts inventory and update the database; report downtime to Maintenance Manager or Production Team Leader.

Position Summary

Thales has a vacancy for a Maintenance Technician for the North Kingstown site, you will be responsible for providing technical support for all personalization and insertion machinery / equipment with regards to Health & Safety, Quality and Productivity. The intervention could be a corrective or preventive action to the equipment. As part of the duties of this position you will be engaged on supporting the cost reduction plan in place, spare parts inventory and maintenance KPI improvements.

Key Areas of Responsibility

• You will maintain personalization and insertion equipment to provide safe, reliable & efficient production, while adhering to all OSHA regulations and policies. You will fault find and repair to provide optimum up-time of Perso equipment. You will provide instruction and guidance to production operators on machine operation and basic maintenance.
• You will liaise with equipment suppliers to undertake machinery diagnostics / upgrades and modifications. You will assist in the control / management of spare parts while ensuring the database is up to date. You will elevate all issues of downtime to the Maintenance Manager or Production Team Leader and enter maintenance and downtime details into the corresponding maintenance ticket.
• You will ensure continual high standards of housekeeping. You will provide Technical Support to other Thales Perso facilities that share the same Perso technology. You will contribute to specific projects related to the maintenance area like spare parts cost reduction, spare parts inventory and maintenance KPI improvements (MTBF, availability and machine downtime).

Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience at least 1 year as mechanical or electric Technician.
• Proven technical grounding in mechanical and electrical disciplines.
• You must be computer literate and possess good communication, organizational and time management skills
• It would be preferred if you have knowledge of Datacard / Bell & Howell / Pitney Bowes / Matica / Persomaster machinery, as well as fault finding at board level and a good understanding of computer hardware / architecture.
• Willingness to learn and support new equipment, as well as has the ability to travel occasionally to support other Thales Perso sites.

Special Position Requirements

Schedule: 3rd Shift 11pm to 7am, starting on Sunday night until Friday morning (occasional overtime on Friday night into Saturday)

Physical Environment: Shopfloor / Office. Also must possess: strength, stamina, and mobility to perform medium to heavy physical work, to work around machines, to climb and descend ladders, to operate a variety of tools and equipment; vision to read printed materials and a computer screen and to distinguish colors in wiring; hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone or radio. Frequent walking in operational areas to identify problems or hazards. As part of the physical work must be able to bend, stoop, kneel, reach, and inspect work sites as well need to have the ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials and objects weighing up to 50 pounds or heavier weights with assistance and/or the use of proper equipment.

Compensation

The reference Total Target Compensation (TTC) market range for this position, inclusive of annual base salary and the variable compensation target, is between Total Target Cash (TTC) 38,980.63 - 73,079.00 USD Annual
