Job summary

Thales in Montgomeryville, PA is seeking a Shipping Specialist to coordinate the flow of finished goods and raw materials, stage, pack, wrap and ship products to customers, and maintain on-time delivery in compliance with security standards.

The role requires a high school diploma, competency with Outlook, ability to work autonomously, and a forklift license. Preference for shipping experience and forklift/pallet jack skills. Schedule is M-F, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

Responsibilities

• Prepare orders for shipment using a pick list, including printing labels and packing as per instructions.
• Coordinate with Customer Service to ensure proper handling of shipments via phone or email.
• Communicate shipment issues to Customer Service when scheduling problems arise.
• Prepare manifests, bills of lading (BOL), and assist with international customs paperwork.
• Handle shipments with secure carriers in accordance with security standards.
• Schedule secured carriers and restack/repack pallets as needed from other sites.
• Load and unload trucks; assist Receiving team and inventorying of materials.

Position Summary

Thales has a vacancy for a Shipping Specialist to coordinate and execute the flow of finished goods and raw materials into and out of the Shipping area. In this role you will also need to stage, pack, wrap and ship product(s) to customers, support production in the completion of packaging functions, and maintain on-time delivery (OTD) and accountability in compliance with security standards.

Key Areas of Responsibility

• Prepare orders for shipment to customers using a pick list, including printing labels, wrapping and strapping pallets and cartons, and following order-specific packing instructions.


• Coordinate with Customer Service to ensure proper handling of the product(s) via phone or email.


• Communicate with Customer Service if any issues with the scheduled shipments occur


• Prepare manifests, bills of lading (BOL), and assist with international customs paperwork


• Handle shipping transactions with secure and common carriers in accordance with security standards.


• Schedule secured carriers for shipments of product and RMAs. Restack and repackage pallets and/ cartons as needed from other sites. Prep cardbodies from sister sites based on production schedule.


• Load and unload trucks as required. Provide backup support for Receiving team and Techno Kitter as necessary, including inventorying raw materials and stored finished goods, monitoring inventory stock levels and notifying purchasing to reorder of consumables as needed, and delivering goods and materials to the site and office area.

Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent


• Must be proficient with computers and Microsoft Outlook


• Must be able to work autonomously


• Must be able to attain and maintain the license to operate powered industrial equipment as required by position (i.e. forklift and other power equipment)

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous shipping experience preferred


• Previous experience utilizing a forklift preferred


• Previous experience utilizing an electric walkie pallet jack preferred

Special Position Requirements

• Position is located in a manufacturing environment


• Exposed to a moderate noise level (though below 85 decibels)


• Schedule – M-F 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM


• Must wear safety shoes as specified in the local Safety Shoe Policy.


• May require the use of additional personal protective equipment (such as safety glasses) as dictated by local policy.


• Must be able to perform repetitive lifting, carrying and packing functions up to 60 pounds.


• Requires constant standing and walking and occasional stair climbing


• Fast-paced work environment.

Required to utilize a variety of lifting equipment, such as fork truck, electric hand truck and Clark truck.
